My question is — How did Jamb go about their markings and allotting scores? Aren't we all suppose to know what caused this mass failure? Even though I know that social media in itself also played a role but regardless, there were also some jambites who were really hardworking....

Yes. Senate mandated NUC to use JAMB and SSCE only for Admission. Candidates are offered admission based on performance and grading of score.

Even if your brother score 390/400= he would not get more than 60%. Anyone who score from 230 upward will only get the maximum of 60%. Your brother O'level is now the determinant now. If he has 5 A1=40% the maximum, five B2=35%, five B3=30%, five C4=25%, five c5 =20, five c6=10%. This is the new rule for admission now since last year. Check where ur brother falls

I heard this year JAMB was 85% mass failure.

I blame Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, Tiktok and other social media platforms for stealing the minds of our youths.

Too bad and appalling.

Guy, don't let anyone discourage you, your brother has really tried with that score, he only need to pray and put more effort in his post utme and probably having a good grade in SSCE also. By God's grace he will be admitted in any of those universities.

I'm an aspirant also, did jamb last year had 269 chose mbbs in unilorin buh didn't get it unfortunately.
My olevel was good, 2as 2bs,1 c4 in math, eng, phy chem bio
Buh my friends who had a relative Mark did a change of course to anatomy, and pharmacy and were given.

So I'll advise him to do check change of course to be on the safe side.

He can go on to change to mbbs in the second year of he wants or write another jamb next year

Let him take whatever course he is given with that scores, upon getting to 200L, he should make arrangement on how to cross over to medicine and surgery department

Good day Nairalanders..My Brother registered for jamb this year, and picked UNIABUJA for Medicine..but ended up scoring 248 (probably due to the mass failure, because he is very intelligent and read really hard).

The question is can he be admitted into his school of choice even with 248, judging with the mass failure this year.

NOTE: The initial plan was for him to go to Unilag and change his institution after jamb

I need your advise People
Should he go on with UNIABUJA
What are his chances of getting admitted into Medicine with that score.
What are his chances also, pertaining to UNILAG.



Yes i know someone that got it with 240 @uniabuja last year but due to lockdown and strike, she resume last month

@OP....Let me advise your brother.
It would be on the safe side if he can do change of course to Medical Laboratory Science or Pharmacy and after his 2nd level or Second year, he switches over to Medicine if his CGPA is very high like 4.6 & above).
Many Medical Students in Nnamdi Azikiwe Teaching Hospital Nnewi crossed over from Med Lab, Anatomy, Microbiology and Pharmacy.

it all depends on ur post utme,if u score high that is above 200 they will give u d required course but d school i graduated from they first consider indigene before outsider.it still base on ur performance
