If there was no covid-19 there would still be people who died , maybe having covid-19 accelerated They should not have been determined to have died of covid-19 solely. Only 152 fell into that category going by the article

Covid kills people my friend. My mother inlaw has been down with Covid the last two weeks but thankfully is on the mend. We had to get her private supply of oxygen and a doctor to tend her 24/7. Her oxygen levels were down to 88 and the doctor said she would have died without such intervention. As far as I am aware, her life was not in danger from anything else but Covid.

Because people are dying due to "brief illness" in Nigeria and you have not got the resources to confirm either way, don't go making assumptions. Another of my colleagues husband was on ventilator for weeks this time last year with no underlying condition.

It is true in the UK at least that anyone in Hospital who has another condition but has a Covid diagnosis when they die is marked down as a Covid death, however there are still many without a different illness who die, and many more with treatable illnesses who covid takes out.
