There is what is called in International politics, retaliatory measures. Most guys screaming UK will sanction Nigeria or do such and such to Nigeria failed to understand that this ain't the first time Buhari would be having diplomatic issue with Britain. When in 1984, his foiled attempt at kidnapping Umaru Dikko to come and face charges of corruption here, resulted in the UK govt seizing the Nigeria Airway there, the Buhari/Idiagbon military junta retailated by grounding a British airway in Lagos. The plane was only released when the seized Nigeria Airway landed in Lagos. So Nigeria govt has many ways to hurt the UK. Even now the western govt are even careful in their dealings with the govt so as not to push them to allign with either of the core socialist military powers. You forgot to realise that the alignment of Syria with Russia is the reason why the govt didn't fall the way of Libya, Tunisia and Egypt in so-called Arab spring.

British government has betrayed its diplomatic ties with Nigeria, Nigeria is a sovereign nation and it has the right to determine what is best for its government. For British to be providing protection for state enemies is an indication that British government is sponsoring the destabilization of Nigeria. Nigeria can sue the British government in international law court and cut off ties with them. Kanu is a criminal and the evidences against him will make him rot in jail.
