Taking money out before a certain age will be taxable of course. In UK, you can access 25% of your pension tax free at 55, after that you have to plan your drawdowns for the rest of your life to minimise tax.

What I meant is do you get taxed at source when you pay into your pension from your salary. I'll give an example. If I instruct my employer to put £1 from my salary into my pension, the full £1 goes into my pension. If I instruct them to pay me instead, they have to first deduct 40% income tax and 12% National Insurance leaving my net pay as 48 pence. So in essence, the instruction for them to pay straight to my pension has already doubled my money from 48 pence to £1

British people know büllshit when they see it. They are used to real news, without outrage, hyperbole or inflammatory content. We thank the BBC for this. Even though I find it difficult to pay for socialised TV (we pay licence fee to fund the BBC), a part of me is thankful that the BBC has set the tone for news reporting in the UK and other news programmes have to follow. You can't just report anyhow in UK, otherwise British people will compare you to BBC and if your stuff is not factual and up to scratch, they will desert you for the BBC.

Fox News is so hated in Britain and their viewership was non existent. We don't do hatred, outrage or antagonism on our news channels. Murdoch had to pull it from the airwaves due to low viewership. Imagine a British man who loves his National Health Service watching Sean Hannity ranting about Obamacare every night. He can't understand such madness.
