liqui-moly is a high end oil. Anything under 30k for liqui-moly is suspect tbh. Engine oil is a low margin, high volume commodity. Do the math. This is retail without Nigerian customs wahala and/or shipping so how are they selling it in Nigeria for $32?
You're a comedian

Even if them dash you car for free for US, you no fit spend less thank 800k to bring it to naija now.

So imagine how much he possibly bought it, come still put this kind money on top.

Note: if he bought it at an extremely cheap prize, come still pay huge for repair, then he definitely bought a foreign Lemon.

Am sure he won't spend above 600k shipping and clearing. D car go btw 100k-250k max
Anytime anybody will prefer a foreign lemon to a local lemon Dem no b mate

As much as I joke here .. Let me also educate some people here....... Someone might learn 1 or 2 things here....

Number 1.... Cost of parts as gone up due to exchange rate... Some people on nairaland might not be aware. Let us get down to business below.....

When ever I buy cars either at Auction or from personal sellers . you must buy the car cheap enough to make a profit.
Most times these cars will need some work done. And labour is cheap in Nigeria compare to the USA. Most cars I do sell will need some fixing before putting up for final sale .....

On average I will spend roughly about 100k to 200k on a car before I get ready for the final sale. Now all these little expenses do add up ........

Most of u know that I don't deal with naija used cars for my uber business .. All my cars are Tokunbo for my uber fleet......

so once the car arrives we have to get it ready to uber standard . That usually cost the same amount as if am getting the car ready for actual sale.....This is why am very selective when hiring drivers.....

This particular civic is already on the road. And for the next six months the only thing that will do is basic oil change... It might look like am spending alot now ,

but the goal is to save more in the long run, by putting the car 100% ready. This is to avoid down time ......

Below is the red civic that have on uber for almost close to 3 years plus .. Due to my maintenance culture the car is still on the road as we speak now....

Ps.. No matter how u look at cost of cars has gone up . if you buying for real real cheap at this currant exchange rate .. The car will still need additional repairs or hidden cost..........

Cost of shipping a car has gone up from $920 to $1020. And this does not include towing cost

Ask him how much is RORO shipping now. It's quite over 1k dollars. That's about 500k already.
Hwo much do you think is clearing for civic from Apapa?

Mind you, he possibly towed the car to port in USA. Which is about 200 dollars.

No, I do not. My point is the manufacturers themselves have a rock bottom price they sell direct to Walmart, Amazon, Carquest etc. Even at those prices, there is not a lot of margin so how are people with middle men selling for $32 legitimately? Unless you are telling me the manufacturers are selling to our brothers here at less than the listed companies who buy millions of dollars a year. Occasional clearance deal, yes. Fell off a truck, yes. Counterfeit, possibly.

But real product consistently at that price with middle men, c'est n'est pas possible without only breaking even or incurring a loss. And in the case of liqui-moly specifically, I call BS

Glad you're amused.

There you have it.
@Flecho, oya do the maths now.

Shipping $1020k
Towing $200
That's almost 600k depending the rate he got his dollar.

You said the car is between 100k to 2500k, but let's say 150k

That's 750k minimum already.
Now you see it's even over 1m if you add clearing fee.

Quote me when you're sure of what you're Saying.
I come in peace.

You have a very valid point brother

Some people here go say ''i can never buy naija used vehicle" its definitely a lemon.... You will spend a lot on repair to put it to standard.

Why then should u now buy a so called toks and spend a lot to put it to standard? Therefore it would not be out of place to call it a lemon too.

Cos if someone buys a toks and still spend huge money on repairs that means the toks was either roughly used or definitely a lemon.

That's why i look as folks that will just conclude saying nigerian used is a total write off cos its used in Nigeria not even considering the fact thata:
1. there are neatly used cars in Nigeria

2. People sell cars for various reasons e.g relocating, dire need of cash, wanting to upgrade etc

My take will always be: person no dey use car forever but when buying a vehicle do ur due diligence weda naija used or toks cos even some naija used dey better pass some toks. I'll rather take my chances with a naija used that i can get cheap if u like call it lemon i will make lemonade out of it than spend huge money on an expensive lemon toks

How do you guys cope with the smell abi na pungent odour coming from riders. Some na mouth odour (and they wouldn't stop talking), some body odour, some just finished taking weed, some wack perfumes that would want to make you puke. Na God dey help person sha.

Then there's this entitlement mentality that some would have, which you'll think you are used to, but then you'll just see someone display a new one that would make you just shake your head.

So last night I picked up a guy from the mall. He bought half bag of rice and some other things sha. Got to his estate and after going through bad roads he pointed at his gate that I should honk. In my mind I was like hope this wère doesn't expect me to drive in o (e no dey hard dem). I just parked in front of the gate, honked and ended the trip. He was like oga you have to enter, I cannot carry that bag of rice. In my mind, see this guy o, because of 25kg rice wey you buy I just told him I don't drive into compounds in the night. As I looked through the rear view mirror, if you see eye wey this guy look me ehn, I just smiled in my head. I know last last na rating no suffer am. But then again, what goes down must surely go up.
