There have been mixed reactions and opinions across Nigeria following the recent arrest and continuous prosecution of the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra, Nnamdi Kanu. Recall that Kanu had been arrested in 2015 before jumping bail and fleeing the country, following the invasion of his home by military operatives on 14th October 2017.

Kanu's arrest in 2015 followed intelligent reports by the Department of State Services (DSS) that he had arrived the country from the United Kingdom through the same Nigeria/Cameroon border. Before his disappearance in 2017, Kanu had been charged with treasonable felony and criminal conspiracy, a case which the federal government have been yearning for continuation.

Meanwhile, Kanu's recent arrest on Sunday have sparked mixed reactions across the country, including angry reactions from his allies and supporters. Among these reactions was one made his former deputy, Uche Mefor in a telephone conversation with PENFACT REPORT on Wednesday. Mefor blamed and condemned the IPOB leader for making a mistake to repeat what led to his initial arrest in 2015.

During the conversation with PENFACT REPORT, the former deputy leader also condemned Kanu's arrogance and stubborn attitude, saying that was his reason for parting ways with him: "Nnamdi Kanu did not act like a wise man. I never knew he was this cheap and easy to get.

"Despite all the handwritings on the wall for many months, ranging from the killing of his ESN commander, the banning of Twitter, the daily arrests across the south-east and down to the recent placement of N100 million bounty on his head: Nnamdi Kanu was still able to be deceived again by his close friends to travel down to Cameroon, after being deceived in 2015 with the same strategy. His arrogance and stubborn attitude was the main reason we parted ways"
