I have a final interview for the role of a IT Support with UBA IT Team tomorrow, please can anyone give me headlights as to how their interviews are or the likely interview questions.

Questions I think

I think you should expect something like
How to Java programming questions.
LAN networking and it troubleshooting.
Desktop Applications Questions using VB.net, Java, C# etc
Cyber security questions
Internet banking questions
Digital marketing questions
And some ethical questions...
In Nigeria when they here IT, they don't know that it is a wide field like Medicine... They expect you to have all the skills...even how to repair laptops fixed computers...So expect any questions from any IT field especially the few ones I highlighted up there

Make sure you show interest by having a list of questions to ask them about the position and company. Also ask them why is the position open and have a follow up chat on how you can address their reason. Tell them ‘You are 100% competent and confident that you’re the perfect fit for this position.’

What a belated bank sliding into obscurity

1. Know the unit you are applying for
2. Know a bit about core banking applications (finacle) , their e-banking solutions(u-direct)
3. Understand what it means to be proactive, reactive and predictive in support.
4. how to escalate incidents, who to escalate to and how to inform the business.
5. A little of database won't be bad (SQL )
5. Understand what an ESB is (just basics is good)
6. a little knowledge of Unix won't be a bad idea

2. A complaint is escalated to you by Customer Care that the UBA App keeps returning the error code 00103 what is your first advice/line of action ?

3. If you give a correct answer to 2 then they ask “where this line of advice or action fails what is your next step of action?”

Can you troubleshoot and fix system issues?

Set up new PC's on the bank's network?

Install needed softwares?

General maintenance?

Then you are good to go.

I suspect its an outsourced position though.

I think you have to know how to resolve common issues with system,
ie : i can not browse
I can't receive mails and can't send mail.
System not coming up
Login issues
Basic knowledge of troubleshooting Servers, printers
Also,
IP address classes
Subnetting
Network address
Broadcast address
Basic knowledge of Router and switches
Troubleshooting using OSI and TCP/IP model.

Attending to bank employee problems such as hanging software
Decongesting third party payment portal
Liase with Telcos on varying issues associated with mobile banking.

IT support is basically technical support.... Networking, troubleshooting and installation.
