Hello people.
Please i need your advise on this.
I am a nurse here in Nigeria and i have been trying to migrate to Uk for a nursing job position. i know about the whole process of writing CBT and IELTS. My problem is that i am stuck in IELTS.. I have not passed it yet. i have been trying since 2017 and i have written it 6 times. They cost money as well.

Recently i got a Homecare Job (nursing assistance equivalent) in Uk. I am suppose to sponsor my self to uk unlike the normal NMC UK employment that will sponsor you.

I intend to take the homecare job and travel, when i get there, i will book the cbt and IELTS again. Hopefully, if i pass it, i will registered as a nurse there. At least i will be working and preparing for it.

Please anyone in the house with experience to share concerning settling down as a home care nurse. do you encourage me to do so or i should just decline it and continue writing the IELTS and cbt until i pass it and then register with NMC UK and look for proper nursing Job.. Please i need your advise.

thanks.

1. IELTS just open a center in makurdi Benue. Try and register there as fast as possible, there will be high chances of passing the exam as a first timer.

2. Share your contact with me to link you up with Nigeria Nurses already working in UK. They will give you the best advice and guide on how to go about relocation and nursing jobs in the UK.

Lol. Your first point is so freaking hilarious.

Na by new center.

If they don’t sponsor you, how will you get the work visa? It’s not possible. Employers don’t like the hassles of preparing the paperwork. But you need to encourage them to provide the required documents to Home Office. If the visa scales through, I will advise you to go for it. You will be able to pass your IELTS more easily within the U.K. Good luck on your way.

You still need a sponsorship letter from your employer to apply. You can't sponsor yourself. sponsorship is not about the money to come, is about the authority the home office give your prospective employer to bring in staff from outside the UK.

My best advice would be that if you can't write OET, get registered in a training centre and write your IELTS. It pays you to come in here with the right papers

You can not sponsor your self to work in the UK. The employer that gave the job must have a tier 2 sponsorships certificate. The certifate from your employer is what you need to apply for a work visa. If the employer did not have a sponsorship certificate then they have no right to bring anyone from abraod.

Is it for how many years contract?
What are the terms and conditions.
If this two is a bit fair for you, just go.
Ensure, you write CBT and OET before going. Once you reach, within one year enroll and Register with NMC and take your OSCE.

Why wasting your time on language test when you can apply for Bsc Nursing in US schools with IELTS waiver, with opportunity to work and school. You can also continue to live in US as you progress in your academics.
You can also get international loans to fund this academics before travel.
Pls don't waste the precious time oooo.
Also nothing is wrong if you go on this new offer but be sure not scam.

Do you understand the question?

What if you don't pass it when you get to the UK, what will happen?

It is better study harder to pass it then find a job in the UK. I would be suspicious of the job posting as well, no reputable organisation will offer you a homecare job outside the UK pending IETLS and CBT. I am pretty sure it is illegal and not according to NMC regulations.

Modern slavery is very real, you will REGRET it if you make a decision in haste.

I will simplify it for you by telling you the pros and cons of taking the job

Pros:
- You get better salary as nurse assistant in the UK than you receive as a nurse in Nigeria thus you can save better cash for issues back home and also for your exams.
-Intereacting with the British in the course of the job will improve your listening part of the IELTS thus increasing your chances a bit of passing the exam.
- Seeing how developed the UK is compared to Nigeria and the opportunity of better pay as a nurse will make you work harder to pass those exams.
- When you pass your nursing exam, you will get better offer at jobs than a newbie nurse from Nigeria because you are already in the UK and with experience in their health sector. You won't need anyone to sponsor your flights and etc because you already would have the cash to do so. Those sponsoring come at a cost of a lower salary than should be even though it is still more than 10x better than what nurses get in Nigeria.
- You may even find easier career progression in that area as the senior health care assistants earn more than some nurses.
- You have better chance at saving the money to try OET which some say they found easier.
- Some nurses in the UK worked as health care assistants before they were able to pass the exams.
- Such visa allows you bring your partner and children so you save them stress of getting visa to the Uk

Cons:
- Accommodation is a big problem in the UK especially if you have a family. If you are single, you may manage with shared apartment to save. If married and with children,it will be difficult to cope with your salary except the city is cheap and your partner works. It becomes even more difficult if you still have any child less than 3 years as your salary cannot cope with their child care fees.
- Working in the UK can be mentally stressful for some as there is no room for any mistake so you will need that extra determination to create time to study in your free time. If you have the true Nigeria spirit and you are not the lazy type ,you can do it. If you hate stress in life especially with combining things, then forget it.
The stress will be short while if you suffer it once. Hopefully you should pass all the exams within 2 years.
- If you have family back in Nigeria ,it may be difficulty getting approval to go and see them. This may change with time if the covid rules changes.

All these blokes running to the UK should remember that, the standard of living is too costly

The cost of living not standard. The standard of living is linked in some ways to the cost of living but is largely subjective compared to the cost of living which is objective.

What is wrong with you guys?
Already looking down on his so called job?
Most private care homes pay more than NHS and some nurses leave govt hospitals where the so called proper nursing is done to these care homes.
You guys are very hopeless.
Imagine calling a job that will give him millions in Nigerian current currency a low cadre job.

How much is he making in Nigerian govt hospital a Yr where he works as a proper nurse

Before taking up the care job......consider OET.its easier than IELTS.

Little awareness.....I am trying to be loud about it. Did IELTS 3 times......passed OET at once.

IELTS the real thing messing up healthcare workers hoping to migrate.

I am a doctor and tutor, OET is done in lagos . People rushing IELTS like Toyota Corolla

First Advice: You got a job. And they accepted you with all the qualifications you have, means is what they want.

Please go ahead with the job. Provided they will give you COS. Certificate of sponsor.
There is shortage of health workers here. Health care workers are highly needed here.

Second:
If you come to the UK, you can write OET. Forget IELTS

IELTS: i think the reading part is where most people fail it.

You can also write other exam to become a resident healthcare worker.

Conclusion:
If they are willing to give you a Certificate of sponsorship, go ahead

Forget IELTS
Write OET instead. Its the same.
Thanks.

To your warped mind, fulfilment is measured by money alone. I can see you are quite ignorant when you start converting pounds sterling to naira. In your myopic view, she will earn in pounds and spend the money in Nigeria. I know right now you will be confused by what I wrote because obviously you are not matured enough to understand the dynamics. You are not even intelligent enough to distinguish the roles of a nurse from a carer.

It is not every dog that barks that I will throw stones at. Don't expect a response to any silly comments you will make henceforth. Its not everybody that is as desperate as you are. I wish you tough luck going forward.

I have a feeling it's a Nigerian living in the UK that is offering you this job.
There are 2 sides to this coin, it depends on what you want for yourself

1) If you must practice nursing in the UK, make sure you travel to the UK with a visa that allows you to work. If you enter the UK with a tourist visa, you can't renew or change the visa while in the UK.

2) Entering the UK with a tourist visa means you become an illegal immigrant after overstaying . You work and live there illegally with fake identity and make do with whatever job you get but you definitely can't practice nursing.

I hope these little info help.
