Many people may not know this but he started out as a poet.
Playing with words that ryhme.
First time I saw him perform I was a student in Unilag and I saw the intelligence in him.
The ability to come up with the ryhmes and making the audience laugh at the same time.
He later "upgraded" to singing.
Listen to him and see the intelligence in the man.
What a loss.

His name was Rhyme sultan back then. He had a segment on a comedy show on one of those tv stations where he told stories and rhymes all through. Then he released the mathematics song about a year later with the name Sound Sultan and I kept wondering there was something familiar about him. It was when he granted an interview and he said he started with comedy that it clicked that it was the same rhymes guy from that time. Unarguably the most underrated artist in the industry, it's so painful that he never got all the accolades and recognition that he deserved. No wonder his last Instagram post was Patoranking's Celebrate me video, he passed a strong message in that video but it went unnoticed at the time.

I don't think Sound Sultan got the recognition he deserved when he was alive. All of his songs criticized bad governance. The man was a revolutionary. I wonder why none of his songs was the theme song of ENDSARS.

My favorite Sound Sultan song was Koleyewon.

Sadly, I went through this thread and I have yet to find someone mention this song. Other songs like Area, Jangbajantis & Enter the place were mentioned.

Koleyewon was my favourite song because most people talk about empathy, but in reality "only he who knows it feels it"-anonymous.
