Another fact that you will understand clearly if you thoroughly study Nigeria's history and read between the lines: Nigeria is a victim of Fulani agenda versus Igbo agenda right from day one.

Don't rush to agree or disagree based on any sentiment. Just study and observe.

Was it the people who ended slavery or was it politicians?

Was it the people who ended segregation or was. The politicians?

Was it the people who ended colonialism or was it the politicians?

Was it the people who discovered oil or was it the politicians?

Fashola introduced LAWMA and cleaned up Lagos , Ambode came to fix what wasn’t broken by removing LAWMA and introducing VISIONSCAPE Lagos turned to a dustbin state

LAWMA is back but the dirts are still everywhere

Everywhere in the world Government shapes behavior ... Nigerians are only doing what government has allowed them do

Was Ambode born as a politician? Is Fashola's family name Government? The government is the people. The government is a reflection of the aggregate of the people. You see a problem with the government, look at the people as a whole. Nigerians are reaping the collective fruits of individual efforts as a people.

Nigeria problem has a historical background!!

Which tribe started tribalism?? Which tribe tried to conquer Nigeria?? Which tribe Annexed Nigeria by introducing unitary system inorder to take full control??

The only reasons Azikiwe orchestrated a coup against the then govt of Tafa Belewa was because the COR region was set to be carved out from the then defunct eastern region. And with the lure of oil money at stake, Azikiwe ordered his thugs in he army to overthrow the govt and from there roll out an Igbo dictatorship under a powerful central govt.

Igbos will deny this but Decree 34 was the deadly blow that killed regionalism, put an end to COR region and gave birth to the exploitative centrist govt.

Have you asked why Ojukwu supported the abolition of regional governance and forced unification under Ironsi's Igbo dictatorship but later began clamouring for a return to regionalism 5mths later in Aburi?

Tell an Igbo man as a Niger Deltan that you agree with Nigeria's dissolution but will rather have a separate nation for the Niger Delta and watch him insult you and say "is Niger Delta a tribe"?

After the successful Igbo coup, Adaka Boro led a revolt to leave Nigeria entirely . Who clamped down on that secessionist movement? The Igbos under Ironsi with Ojukwu commanding the military offensive.

I agree with you 100%. The problem of Nigeria started when we got independence. If we had started with leaders who really wanted the best for the country, leaders who introduced and enforced a very strong justice system, leaders who didn't become leaders just to amass wealth for themselves but rather used the wealth to develop the country, we won't be where we are today. But they did the opposite of everything and taught corruption to the young ones coming up. Now the then young ones saw it as a normal thing and passed the corruption down to the newer generation and that is how it spread everywhere. Corruption is a normal thing within the walls of public service and politics. The only way things can change it from the top because by the time the leaders start showing examples in dealing ruthlessly with corrupt officials and make sure others follow suit, the orientation of Nigerians will change and they will know it no longer business as usual.

you are right but not fully right. my question is, was it as bad as this, were the majority not abiding to the laws of the land, these all started the moment majority of Nigerians got to know the government has no plan not to even talk of good ones for them. I say and will keep saying, if an average man can meet up with his basic amenities the rate of yahoo boys will reduce by 15% cut not everyone of them wish to be arrested by EFCC and jailed. My answer to such post has always and will always be "THERE IS NO WAY YOU WILL PROGRAM A VIRUS INTO A PC/COMPUTER AND EXPECT A PERFECT WORK". It's not easy, our major problem right now is lack of trust.

China changed in less than 20 years of a visionary leadership. They had same citizens but a changed leadership. Today they are superpower.

Kai!!! You have spoken my mind, I have always believed that when we have a leader or set of leaders who are committed to changing the unfortunate situation we found ourselves in Nigeria today they will definitely map out the way to true change in the minds and hearts of Nigerians. It will not be magic, but as it has started gradually with the common Nigerian tired of the things that are bedeviling us, soon a group of committed Nigerians mostly purposeful youths will start drafting plausible manifesto, creating new political ideologies that are believable and can sell. And when given the chance they will chart a new course that will lead us out of this wilderness.

Of course it's not going to be easy, it will have to do with easing out the present crop of politicians who are mostly corrupt and will ensure nothing disrupt their corrupt flow of income which mostly come from milking the nation's resources dry.

We will need a crop of politicians in the North that will discourage extreme religious sentiments in the north through conscious orientation in the mosques of how tolerance of other religions is most needed to make the country grow and afterwards benefit the common man.

We'll need a crop of politicians from the South that will discourage the get rich quick syndrome in the minds of their youths, to champion a brother's keeper's mindset amongst the people in the South where the common good of all comes first.

I strongly believe that all the points Omalicha have highlighted can be resolved with a government committed to changing the narrative. We have examples of similar government drives that were yielding results, like the WAI Campaign of the Buhari/Idiagbon military rule which made lots of success reformatting the minds and behaviours of Nigerians. In Cross River State, their keep Calabar and Cross River clean created a mindset of general cleanliness there which got Calabar the tag of the "Cleanest City in Nigeria" for years.

These are programs of leaders that have worked at least for the period those leaders were in position. With democracy gaining deeper roots here with the assurance of non disruption of governance due to coups and the likes, if we got blessed with leaders that can change the narrative it will triple down from top to bottom and everything will fall into place.

All she listed here can be classified as societal ills which is not alien to Nigeria.... go to USA there are gangsterism , we saw violent Trump supporters that invaded the Whitehouse, traffic offenders, go to Spain you can find Catalan people agitating for referendum....

All what she said is correct. Every country has the ability or tendency to be a Nigeria but they have a strong system stopping it. There are check and balances!! This shows majority (or lets say a very high percentage) knows the ills of such display. Those in government are a product of our society. You do not expect a lawless and corrupt society to produce a corrupt free government. Most Nigerians do not hate corruption, they just hate the fact they aren't benefiting from it. Once a Nigerian benefits from the corrupt system, he calls it "been smart", "grace", "luck".

Why do most Nigerians travel out of the country and still engage in all sort of crimes?

You celebrate BBN, by watching, talking, praising the participant... school Debate, mathematic or cowbell competition do you show same passion and same financial support? "As the individual reaps what he sows, so the nation, being a community
of individuals, reaps also what it sows. Nations become great when their
leaders are just men; they fall and fade when their just men pass away.
Those who are in power set an example, good or bad, for the entire
nation.

Great will be the peace and prosperity of a nation when there shall arise
within it a line of statesmen who, having first established themselves in a
lofty integrity of character, shall direct the energies of the nation toward
the culture of virtue and development of character, knowing that only
through personal industry, integrity, and nobility can national prosperity proceed."
