Supreme Court Stops FG From Ceding 17 Oil Wells To Imo by Ayomide811(op): 2:54pm On Jul 14, 2021

The Supreme Court on Wednesday restrained the Federal Government and its agencies from ceding 17 oil wells to Imo State.

The oil wells are located in Akri and Mgbede communities where their boundaries are being disputed by the Rivers and Imo State governments.

The order of injunction was granted to stop a purported implementation of the ceding of the oil wells to Imo State pending the determination of a suit brought before the apex court by the Rivers State government.

It's a normal legal procedure. When a case that has been decided by a lower Court is brought to a higher court, the higher court grants an injunction or a stay of execution meaning that the ruling of the lower court shouldn't be implemented yet until the higher court hears the matter.

That's the normal protocol.Rivers State Government appealed the judgment of a low court for stay of execution pending the determination by the supreme court

Wike is using his leverage at the supreme court. It is unfair that Ikwerres want to dispossess Igbos of IMO of their God given oil wells. I hope that Mary Odili remembers that she is originally from IMO and be sensible in this matter.
