I scrolled through nairaland looking for a toks Honda pilot. 2009 or 010.

Most of the vehicles I saw are Nigeria used waiting to be sold off. Is there anything prevalently wrong with that pilot model?

That's not true. Pilots doesn't have the leg pull issue

So the vehicle is not advisable to buy. I noticed it's relatively cheap and offered more value for money when compared to highlander and other vehicles in same class.

VCM can be disabled but I believe the touring edition should be the one with VCM engine.

My boss uses it and the only reason he wants to buy another CUV is because of fuel consumption. Says the car dey consume I believe it's because he has check engine light issues

three to four years of use and I NEVER had any major issues with the car, not engine or transmission and it never slept with a mechanic for once. 2005 model, extremely reliable

2010 is not a face-lift....its an all new version

you cannot bypass it....u can't disable it....atleast not here in naija as far as I know

From my research, the 2017 upwards was the pilot year with VCM issues that I know. It is reliable as long as you can fuel it

I currently use the 07 model and i have no regrets at all. Been using it for 3yrs now. Speed , Performance and durability ...All na confirm ! Though, e dey chop fuel small sha but then its a 3.5ltres V6 engine naaa.....I love am like that !

is the engine different from the one in 2010?

I think the VCM is not in the 4WD models of the first gen.

It's same capacity ....

Am using 2008 pilot.....best car have used. Have tried RAV4, and I can say this(pilot) is far better. Fuel consumption is similar, except the thermostat has being bypassed. Am more comfortable driving the vehicle than my mum's RX 330. The 330 has some Blindspot. You cant go wrong with it. Make sure you use the right transmission and gear oils

I physically noticed this too. When the 2010 arrived Nigeria around 2012, most (let me not say all) put it up for sale after a few months, say 8months.

Then the Nigerian used completely disappeared and now it is not often you see them parked for sale.

So what is the Nigerian verdict?
