I just want to know if Toyota Hiace bus automatic drive can be changed to manual without any issue.
Then, where can they handle it effectively?
I need a genuine advice.

Fuel consumption has nothing to do with the transmission.
Fuel consumption is a engine or emission problem.

If you remove your thermostat, bad o2 sensor, exhaust and vacuum leak, bad spark plug, clogged injector will cause high fuel usage.

You have to scan it first to see what code has been set

You're right.
But in my own observation, I noticed that out of 2 Toyota Hiace bus that I own, auto is consuming more fuel than manual.
ie, I'm the one controlling when to change gear to make it easier and convenient for the engine.
In auto, it's not possible.
If I'm going from Lagos to let's say Delta about 400 kilometers journey, and the road didn't permit me to speed more than 65 km/hour. With my speedometer reading 60,I can change gear to 5 speed. But auto will never allow me to do that, thus, consume more fuel and also make engine work more harder which can also lead to oil shortage.
