1) GIVING

Number one quality of a freedom fighter is that he gives all his resources for the liberation of his people. He is not paid to fight for freedom. Any freedom fighter that does not work, his bills, family are taken care of by the people he is fighting for their freedom is fake.

You can't tell me that you and i are fighting to be free, then i will go to work and pay you to geth the same freedom we both want. So if you are not paid you wont fight?

If you pay NYSC member 100k a month for youth service, will they want the service to end? When they are not sure they will get jobs outside?

They will rather wish the service is delayed, so they will continue to be paid. Why do you think civil servants and footballers lie about their age? They want to continue earning.

2) HONESTY

A freedom fighter does not lie to his people. Anytime you see a freedom fighter tell lies to his people, the fight is no longer for the freedom of the people. It must have to do with number one.

So when your freedom fighter lies about UN and JUBRIL, think twice.

3) ISSUE BASED

A true freedom fighter does not base the fight on a particular person or tribe. His focus is on a situation. Ojukwu's fight was about the conditions his people faced and not the north. If they resolved that situation, ojukwu would not go to war.

So when your freedom fighter is just preaching to you about hating a particular people and not the condition, he is not genuine. You spend all your energy fighting and hating the people and the condition does not change.

The focus should be on changing the condition rather than hating people.

That is why you see some freedom fighters winning and dinning with politicians that have looted the future of their people. But they will keep feeding their people with hate.

Meanwhile, 80% of the issues that make their people agitate are caused by the politicians they relate with.

4) THE PEOPLE ARE PRIORITY

To a freedom fighter, the life of his people remain priority. When you see a freedom fighter sacrificing his people, killing more of his people than the enemy, you must have a rethink.

When he says he is fighting for lives and property of his people, and in the process more of his people are killed, then think twice.

Some are killed, while others are called sabo and their properties destroyed.

5) CARRIES EVERYONE ALONG

If the fight is genuine and based on issues, the freedom fighter welcomes everyone one and idea. If security is the focus, the freedom fighter brings his own idea, and welcomes other peoples ideas. They all work together to achieve the goal.

You cant say security is the goal and you want to be the only one providing the security. Any other person that tries to provide security, you threaten and attack the person. Even go as far as sending your own security to kill people in another security outfit just to prove a point.

You own security goes to another igbo state and kills Igbo's in the vigilante to prove superiority.

If truly the aim is to secure the people, the more outfits the better. The most important thing is communication and sharing information.

Even developed countries do not rely on government police alone. They have several private owned security outfits that are licensed to operate. The goal is security and the more outfits the better.

But when one group is fighting to be the only outfit, then look at the number one. Money is the motive.
