The sheep is a cool, calm and harmless domestic animal that's always in need of company, it always feel lonely without others, it will not eat until it's sure of the environment he is so it's only when this animal is in the midst of it's kind that it feels secured.
Jesus' statement means his followers should go in search of individuals with sheeplike mindset, therefore the worshipers of Jesus' God must be persons who love the congregation of like-minded people, they want to know the rules and codes of conduct that will guide all of them as a big family, whoever is not submissive to the same rules is noted as an outsider but no matter who you are or wherever you come from once you're ready to obey the same rule you automatically become a member of the family.

True Christianity has been misrepresented for so long, the true Christians don't pick up weapons for any reason whatsoever, they're not nepotists, they're not nationalistic, they don't practice nor believe in politics.

All what they do is search for individuals who are interested in the same line of thought and making such ones their family members.

So no matter where you're born, if you're one of the sheep Jesus' followers are searching for, you will never feel contented with whatever religion is practiced by your people, you'll always feel something is missing until you come in contact with the true Christians.

I was born a Muslim, right from day one i knew something is wrong but i can't figure it out myself, i continue practicing Islam until i came in contact with Jehovah's Witnesses. Then i said to myself "This is where i supposed to be and this is the one and only true religion"

1) if you weren't born into your religion would you still believe your God is the one and only true God

yes, why because I observed when we were kids, I discussed with other children that there was Someone talking to us "Inside us". And some things He said, happened and came to pass. Evident when we say "my mind was telling me that..." Or "Something told me that..."

This is not unique to any religion.

Women call it intuition.

I remember also I did not think that I was a Christian because, pastors and priests always called me stubborn, however I observed that whenever I hear songs worshiping God, there was a sweetness in my heart and I love sweetness, so I pursued it.

So, you can appreciate how glad I was when I grew up to learn that, that sweetness is described as "When I am in the presence of The Lord, There is Fullness of Joy" Plus I observed when I am in that state, Everyone was afraid of me, I, the baby of the house, oh Power, and I used it wella because everyone bullied and chanced me die, so I was always in pain, but when I am in that place, they fled from me and gave me all I wanted at that time.

So there, was my own personal Proof of God and many other children experienced this same thing with me.
