Idimu means so many meanings. Example is fight. Eko is the short form of ereko. You can't claim you control Lagos and yet Yoruba is the only language spoken , only Yoruba kings are in Lagos and only yoruba sub tribes.
Now I'm asking you again, why is non of your lineage a king in Lagos

[s]Lol. Dundee United asking irrevelant question. We are on who came from who and you are asking

"zombish" question.

Let me briefly explain it for your sawdust brain to understand.

Oranmiyan was a Benin prince. He left Benin to rule Ile-ife. So when the Oba of Benin at a later time asked the king of Ile-ife to send down a sculpturer, the Oba of Benin was asking his subordinates (the ruler in Ile-ife) to send a sculpturer which he obliged.

Know your history first so you won't leave real questions to be asking foolish questions[/s]

Lol. See idiot. Do you know the size of Benin relative to the entire Edo state?

If Edo is bigger than more than 3 SE states combined, it therefore means your village can't be bigger than Benin.

You dull Sha!

I can't even waste my time with you. It took only one year (1897. It took about a week at the most) for the British to attack and totally destroy your "GREAT" kingdom and send your king fleeing with his tail between his legs. But from when the British came to the Igbo hinterland in the late 90s of the 19th century, it took them until the 1920s for them to actually say they conquered the Igbos. Even that topic has been argued on by many because the Igbos still kept fighting the British a long time after that. Stateless societies are actually more formidable than centralized ones. This is due to their ability to attack using guerilla tactics. This is why it's difficult to defeat Boko Haram but the IPOB and OODUA movement can be defeated by taking out their heads.

Oga keep quite. Know why the British invaded the Benin Kingdom. They killed a British. If your igbo people had killed a British, your towns and villages would have been burnt down by the British. Nothing back then could stop the white man's guns!

The British didn't come to igboland with the same motive used in invading Benin!

We should change the name of this site to IgboStoryLand, it seems the level of bias against Igbos is astronomical.
The stories that drive traffic here are Igbo related, Nigerians are really intrigued by that beautiful tribe cheesy
This story will get to page 5 in a few minutes of posting with lots of anti Igbo vitriol.

When they thought that Igbos were down Obi Cubana and his friends pulled a surprise and grounded every other events in the country and focused it on Oba, Anambra for a whole week.

Nnamdi Kanu makes news here every despite being in detention, tomorrow Nigeria plays Argentina in the Olympic basketball games both men and women, the language of those games will be Igbo as 13 out of 15 players are Igbos with 6 playing in the NBA.

But theres a biafra guy that always post the ibo threads now and its always full of biafra propaganda....you wont see that but the moment someone tries to educate you people on your slavery past nairaland become biafara enemy......HYPOCRISY is an iboman

lol you are a kid if you think places in Lagos will have Esan names by miracle.
I told you how those places got their names and their meanings and you are here bringing up incoherent jargons.Ẹdo people Annexed the swamp, named it Ẹko meaning settlement, lekki was called Ẹki, meaning market which was were Ẹdo soldiers sold Yoruba slaves to the Portuguese, those Yorubas have a significant Yoruba culture in Brazil till present. Where the slaves were kept was called idumigbon meaning slave quarters, it was later changed to idumigbon / idumagbo meaning meaning humans quarters. Other parts of Lagos have Bini and etsako names.
Eko is completely surrounded by Yoruba villages so it's normal for Yorubas to have a large number of people there

how does fight relate to the name of a place? Come to uromi and Ekpoma and see if almost every village here doesn't have idumu affixed to it. In Ekpoma you have idumebo meaning Quarters of native doctors, ihumudumu meaning Quarters of the poor. Ihumudumu is one of the largest area in Ekpoma. My village you have idumueni meaning elephant quarters, you have idumokojie, idumuagba etc. Idumota in Lagos means talk talk Quarters.

Wrong!

Eko came from the Benin

It is a Benin word

Eko is short for Yoruba Word Ereko which means field

Ereko Market is still there on the Island

According to the Osifekunde 18th Century Slave Narratives Ijebu Yoruba called Lagos Eko and Benin called it Kuramo, it also described how the Ijebu seized land from Benin and left only an Isolated part of the Lagoon (Isale Eko ) in Benin hands

Eko Ende in Osun State was one of the Locations of the 1878 Jalumi War, there is also Eko Ajala in Osun State

Interpretation of the Osifekunde narrative from 18th Century

"Captain Horseley called it Eco, and that is how the yebous refer to it; but it is not their land: it belongs to Benin, whom have named it Korame, you can recognise the Curamo from older Portuguese reports, just like Eko represents the Ichoo from Holland Hydrographs. Long ago Korame was linked to its metropolis by a very narrow piece of land contained between the great Laguna and the sea; but it has been a while since the yebous have seized that very narrow piece of land of which the eastern extremity was invaded by ouyo pirates; and Karamé remained isolated at the extremity of the great Laguna, while it continues to receive from Benin it's governor or political chief."

here is the page.

the current ọba in Benin has Yoruba and ogiso blood, does that mean Ẹdo people are Yorubas? You are talking about Lagos that was bought by the Portuguese and had a king installed not some ancient Kingdom.

what the fucck is ereko and what significance does it hold, why was it called ereko?
Lagos was bought by the European. How are we supposed to have tribes and King there when it's surrounded on all sides by Yorubas? No matter what, Yorubas from neighbouring vicinity will naturally sieve into the region and overrun it since it's the most important trading hub at that time. With the influx of people came the culture

Your Biafran forces were rag tag, they were fighting a war of attrition. Nigeria armed forces is in charge of all security in Nigeria, so no fight between ibo and Edo...tribes with military prowess did their thing when it was free for all, Ibos had no military power. We heard of Benin Empire warriors, Ashante warriors, fulani jihadists conquest etc, I never heard of any prehistoric ibo army before the amalgamation that did conquests. You jungle animals were still hiding in your caves, when we were colonizing other tribes, towns and nations...Shut the fck up, and stop making wishes. Talk reality, you guys never attacked or conquered any tribe in history cos you were weak. Historically strong tribes colonize weak tribes. Once a slave, always a slave.

what history does your weak senile Edo kingdom have? ur pussy ass kingdom was captured within a day by British forces, but it took the British 5 months to capture the Aro kingdom. you dirty filths, the British recorded ur kingdom of u failed primates born out of marital prostitution and destined to die in the desert of Libya due to the poverty ravaging u primitive savages who can't afford visas to be "smelly and had a putrid smell of rotten milk". savages of no reputable image, bloated pigs grin grin. the towns inhabited by the aros and ngwas were once a territory that belonged to ibibios and Annangs but was captured by virtue of conquest. our Igbo ukwu artifacts predate that of bini, we had our clothing textile called akwete still displayed in the British Museum in Liverpool, had one of the oldest beads in west Africa.

Bini took some Ika autonomous communities as slaves and not the Igbos of the eastern region if our oba who dresses like a ceremonial masquerade had ventured across the niger his head would have been used to dance ikpirikpi ogu.

There is no atom of your greatness in your drops of blood u all are bound by failure the reason the only reputable person to have cumout of your rustic state is anini so stop the tomfoolery. grin grin

weak ass pukes defeated within a day. grin grin what a people what a race.

Lol. Both of us who is lying here? You said your village (which I believe is in the South East) is bigger than Benin.

Look closely at this Nigerian map. look at the size of Edo state. Then look the size of all 5 south eastern states combined. Putting Enugu, Imo, Anambra, Ebonyi and abia states together is not up to the side of Edo grin grin

grin grin grin

A big landmass populated by people with no vision bound by failure till the end of time.

Anambra state has more achievement than that large cesspit u call Edo state. all the intellectuals put together in edo state can't light up a candle. even the delta Igbos with 2million people have more achievement than the home italian prostitutes.

A son comes under his father not a father under a son, Biafra came under Benin, the Benin Empire supersedes all other kingdoms, in the South of the River Niger, South of Nigeria. Nnamdi Kanu goofed, a slave must know it's place, no one is coming under biafra, we are not one in the real sense, a bit of differences, some were slaves and some were kings and Princes.

Igbo have artifacts dating far older than anything found in any part of Nigeria. Archeological findings show that apart from Igbo-ukwu, the Igbo have been in Uturu area of Abia state for tens of thousands of years. Igbo are the oldest in our part of Africa if not the world.
But, for the topic, assuming for a second that there was a time some Igbos were actually slaves to the Bini, weren't Israelites slaves to the Egyptians at some time too? Can you compare the Egyptians with the Jews today in any way? Didn't Israel totally destroy Egyptian military during the Yom Kippur war in one day, and isn't Israel still the top dog of the middle east today?
What some of you should be wondering about is how come your so called slaves are poles ahead of you today and look set to best you for foreseeable future.
Kanu asking for unity of every group in South East and South south is because he is SMART and INTELLIGENT. He understands the banality of your kind of logic.

Look at this ewu confusing Edo with Bini. I knew you are a fool, I blame myself for giving you some attention. Idiat! Getat! You are below me!
Shut up Emilokoiyawon! the Binis also known as the Edos are the majority in Edo state. Binis are not restricted to Bini city, Binis own Okada, Ughoton, Iguobazuwa, Ekiadolor, Urhonigbe,Igieduma,Ehor, Abudu and over other four hundred towns and villages in Edo south.
Now the take here is this, Edo south is the most populated senatorial district in Edo state. and these areas are Bini domain Edo south in terms of population is bigger than Edo central and Edo north combined in terms of landmass and population. The senatorial district in Edo state was clearly delineated along tribal lines if not two senatorial district would have been created from Edo south. No governor can become the governor without the vote and support of the Binis as we have close to 60% of the population of Edo state. I just thought I should educate you because you have been fooling yourself online. Edo south in terms of landmass is bigger than Osun state and also more populated than your God forsaken state . The Binis can't be less than 5million in the world today both home and abroad. I wonder what is "tiny" about such people

Not new style. It was what brought Bini into Biafra map. Now we call it Idu (Igodomigodo) . It was our land and we must claim it.
They now have no option but to Fight 40m Ndigbo with their almost 2m population.
If you have noticed, they have stopped but it is already too late. We need land and coast.
Ijaws handed over Ubani and Opobo that we have almost forgotten back to us when they tried to claim Ndoki.
Now we are having Warri on a platter of Gold. They said they took it from us, so it is natural for us to come back for it.
As from today, Warri becomes a permanent integral part of Igboland.

This is the reason why there will be no Biafra. You will want to assert dominance over smaller tribes.
