With 13 Years Experience, Will You Accept An N85,000 Job Offer? by farous(m): 12:58pm On Jul 25, 2021 |
Can a graduate with over 13 years working experience accept job offer of N85,000 monthly salary simply because the person's company had challenges and is out of job. The daily transport to and fro to work is atleast N1,500 and such a person will still have to buy and eat morning and afternoon food, dress well and has a family. Above all, because of traffic and distance to workplace, such a person will be leaving house atleast by 5am and coming home can reach 10pm. Is it worth it?,Kindly advise 4 Likes 4 Shares |

Can you imagine the insult! Me personally that have never worked for anyone or company since I graduated from school in 2013 will never accept such offer let alone someone with a whole 13 years of experience. One thing about this is that if the said person accepts this shameful job offer now it’s like a virus and will spread to other firms and become a way of life in Nigeria. Suffer dey this country ooo 48 Likes 2 Shares

If after 13 years, you have not been able to increase your skill level to a point where employers would be scared of offering you 85k, then that's what you deserve. Everyday you go to work, you must actively develop yourself to be worth what you want to earn from life. Nobody pays you for time, they pay for your value. If you are worth 850k to them they'll pay you 850k. That is the reality. If you believe you are undervalued where you are, then prove it by offering your service and skills to other employers and see if they jump at your offer or not. You don't determine your value, the market does. 110 Likes 12 Shares |

What's the other option , if it's between 85k and nothing , then he should go for it but then if he has a better option then why not 14 Likes |

Depends..... Its not how much you earn, its how well you manage it..... Let's say you work 20 days a month... Multiply by 1500... That's 30k per month on transport. 1k feeding for 20 days gibes you 20k Left with 35k If I were the person.... I will try to save at least 20k per month ... Leaving me with 15k for family/misc Go back to your expenses... Yiu should look for cheaper ways to go to work... You can look for someone in your area to follow for free for part of all of the journey, even if its just to or fro office. Another option is to look for accommodation somewhere close to the workplace.... You can also do contribution to buy foodstuff in bulk... My wife does that....... With 2k per month for the whole year... They buy so many stuffs in bulk by November.... Groundnut oil, stick fish, cray fish, etc that lasts all through the next year. I know family men working as security guards.... Earning minimum wage, but can still save up... I also know those earning 300k, but are being chased around by loan sharks who they owe for months. Lack of money management has put many people in deep shit.... I found the below video interesting https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBlZ4siDcIc 18 Likes 1 Share |

Let me advice you. Don't take that job. You'll be stressed with nothing to show for it. If you've worked 13yrs, then you should hv some savings. Get a laptop, start online trades, affiliate marketing, CPS. Learn online skills (pay to learn if you need to) It may be tough the first few weeks. But if you master it, you'll be glad you made that decision. Money currently lies online. 16 Likes 4 Shares |

13 years experience as what? A secretary or typist? Also the kind of organization you got your experience matters. If you spent 13yrs in a one man’s business in Ilorin, do not be surprised if a reputable organization doesn’t rate that experience. This is asides other factors. 12 Likes 1 Share |

If you have another option, don't accept it. But if you don't have, accept it and from there you aspire for greater things. Nothing stops you from working now and resigning when other opportunities do come around 5 Likes |

Sometimes my brother... I prefer you take it for now and manage it... nevertheless you be positive for a better days ahead and look forward to getting another one or relocating closer to the company.. it's said that a bird at hand is worth two at the forest. Accept the Job while looking forward to a better paying Job/company. 6 Likes 1 Share |
