Bros, how you do the calculations? It’s 45k for transportation, if he spend on average N500 on lunch, that is another 15k, for a net of 60k.

He did his calculation on the assumption that there are 20 work days in a month

If after 13 years, you have not been able to increase your skill level to a point where employers would be scared of offering you 85k, then that's what you deserve.

Everyday you go to work, you must actively develop yourself to be worth what you want to earn from life.

Nobody pays you for time, they pay for your value. If you are worth 850k to them they'll pay you 850k. That is the reality. If you believe you are undervalued where you are, then prove it by offering your service and skills to other employers and see if they jump at your offer or not.

You don't determine your value, the market does.

Wrong!!!

The value for my time is currently $60 per hour.

This value wasn't determined by the market, but I determined it.

Clients can either work with such a rate, or look elsewhere.

It's like saying the seller doesn't determine the value of his goods, but his customers.

Wrong, wrong, wrong!!!

Oooops:
Let me advice you.
Don't take that job. You'll be stressed with nothing to show for it.
If you've worked 13yrs, then you should hv some savings.
Get a laptop, start online trades, affiliate marketing, CPS. Learn online skills (pay to learn if you need to)
It may be tough the first few weeks. But if you master it, you'll be glad you made that decision.
Money currently lies online.
that "pay to learn" is the major problem and the reason alot of people are very poor today. The average blackman would rather work for someone than pay to learn a skill.
Just today one on nairaland messaged me telling me he don't have money to pay but wants to learn bla bla bla. Now imagine someone with 13years of no single skill you can execute on your own without being engaged ny a coy.
Just yesterday here i paid almost 100grand for a new skill i want to start learning, i am already made but i know how valuable this new skill will be in the future and i am willing to oay more if need be. These are the small tinz that some ppl will never understand.

Ppl wonder y yahooboys are still catching preys even with the modern day information, those fraudsters are ready to spend millions to get a new method for someone else. To be successful in Nigeria u need that kind of mindset.

13 years experience? Ok how much was your former job's salary?

The question of if you should take the job or not lies with your bank account brother. If you don't have shi-shi in that bank account to rely on from your expected 13yrs' former job savings, then you don't need to be told what to do if you're responsible. I believe you're responsible, so do the needful and keep your family up. Cheers!

Can a graduate with over 13 years working experience accept job offer of N85,000 monthly salary simply because the person's company had challenges and is out of job.

The daily transport to and fro to work is atleast N1,500 and such a person will still have to buy and eat morning and afternoon food, dress well and has a family. Above all, because of traffic and distance to workplace, such a person will be leaving house atleast by 5am and coming home can reach 10pm.

Is it worth it?,Kindly advise
Save money on transportation cost and time by renting an accommodation next to your workplace.

No need. Just tell them you are too big and experienced for that amount and tell them to go pick on someone their own size. Then bounce out.

If after at least 15 years of graduation and 13 years on a job and you still need the opinion of mostly jobless youths, undergraduates and secondary school leavers to give you a go ahead in a decision that involves your daily bread then, something is wrong with you. All you want is somebody to tell you.

I would have advised you to take such job if you were new and needed the experience. However, with over 13 years experience, I believe you should have had enough to give you more bargaining power. The expenses/logistics associated with this work appears to outweigh the benefits. Bottom line.....the choice is yours. Good luck.

Only people like you that can’t make reasonable decisions for themselves give birth to such children.

So asking such questions here will add to the 85k salary, or will it reduce the 1500 tf?

So without Nairaland, your own children cannot learn in the future? Just a simple question. No offense.

13 years experience doing what exactly?
A clerk? Lawyer? Salesman? Teacher? Architect? Manager? Driver? Messenger? Accountant? Administrator? Engineer?
You can't just fluant 13 years of experience and expect a fat salary.
What skills do you have?
What problems can your 13 years of experience solve?
Does the company making you that offer have that problem?
If yes, how critical is the problem to their growth?
Is the solution you are offering exceptional?
Or can they easily get anyone else to do the job you will be doing for them?
Were you able to convince them that you have enough vision to make a conspicuous difference in the shortest time possible?
Do you have innovative advantage?
Or you are joining them just to "work"?

Dear op, there are so many questions employers ask themselves and sometimes prospective employees before they make an offer.
Nobody has ever paid anyone because of the years of experience they have.
They pay you for the problems you can solve, even if you just graduated.

The problem we surely have is pointing out our problems to the wrong source and viewing it from the wrong perspective.......

That company's salary scale is not your problem , all you have to do is to stick there for a while and draw a map for your life then quietly begin to free yourself until you are ok to leave that company......

Except you have another plan, then you can leave the company
