No, I don't believe China would go to the north sea, not because they are afraid but because China does not wish to have confrontation with any country. China would respond but it would respond in a different way.

None of the countries can afford to fight a direct frontal war - USA, UK, Russia and China but they all know eachother weak points. For example to deal with US without frontal confrontation is to mess with their economy or politics or covid 19 kind of stuff.
In the case of UK, few bombings can shake them enough for them to cower in fear.
China has weakness of trade restrictions while Russia is to keep putting them under pressure for them to make mistakes

War is not something we sit in our rooms or beer parlor to reason out... The technicalities is out of most people scope of understanding, so rest with the baseless analysis it's all NOISE

China claims an entire body of water which is illegal.

The foundation is the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea (UNCLOS 1982). It says that a country may claim an area extending 12 nautical miles from its coast as its own territorial sea. Additionally, it can exploit 200 nautical miles of the water column beyond its coast as its exclusive economic zone.
