kponkedenge: We don't do well in the olympics because we cannot afford the facilites, expertise, structures, etc that countries who do well in the olympics have. Sure, Kenya and Ethopia have been winning gold medals, mostly in running. In other sports....nil. Also, apart from football, we don't have enough of a talent pool in most sports because people are not interested in them. |

If you want to know when they say Nigeria fvcks u up, this is it. Check this out; "The Nigeria Olympic Committee like all other NOCs had received the phones on behalf of their athletes but could not extend such gestures to the ineligible athletes as they tried to abide by the rules." This problem was caused by the NOC because they weren't serious enough to collect test samples on intervals and submitted anyhow documents. They ruined their athletic careers, Olympics was lenient enough to give them Samsung phones, una seize am. This is pure EVIL If not for this intervention people sweat for just go out of incompetence. |

Please i don't understand this type of ambiguity usually seen in news posted here sometimes by some people. Do well to authenticate your report and the competency of the source before posting news on this site. The earlier report about this matter from a different OP made it clear that the phones had been released by the Olympic authorities and Samsung to the Nigerian officials, and that it was the Nigerian officials that were holding back the phones from the athletes, but now this news is painting a different picture as if it is the IOC that was holding back the phones from the athletes. What type of phoney contradiction is this? Mtcheew! 1 Like |

The issue only affected the ten athletes who were excluded because of drug testing issues. The Athletics Federation of Nigeria failed to ensure that ten athletes were dope tested. These athletes were therefore excluded from the Olympics. The rules say that athletes that are disqualified from the Olympics would not get the phones. However, these athletes were excluded and so the Nigerian officials had to write to the International Olympic Committee to seek approval for the athletes to get the phones. That approval has now been given. cc ubee WhatCanIsay 2 Likes 1 Share

ugodson: Thank you. We will improve as a Nation when we become evidence minded. Let’s be having names, interviews, follow ups, when things happen, instead of just one sided verbal and written report that something took place. Evidence exposes guilty parties - they can’t hide behind anonymity - while freeing others from being tarnished by association if not rumours. I still am none the wiser about those that supposedly fought and stabbed one another in a lift in Dubai resulting in some deaths. What are their names, where are the interviews, who are they, what happed to them after? 1 Like |

Beancounter94: The first part of your post is correct, but the second part is not correct. It is the fault of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria and they have accepted that they are to blame. The AFN is meant to get the addresses from the athletes and then facilitate the drugs tests. The athletes say that they were asked for their addresses and they provided them, but they were never tested. The AFN said that the problem was caused by a mix up in the Federation (there has been a crisis in the AFN for a while) and they have now appointed someone to oversee their anti-doping programme. https://www.channelstv.com/2021/07/29/athletics-federation-of-nigeria-admits-lapses-over-athletes-drug-tests/ 1 Like 1 Share |

Beancounter94: But it is the job of the federation to regulate/select what each athlete eat. It shows the people tasked with that responsibility were doing their jobs. |

Beancounter94: Even football is not spared, Keshi won AFCON and was owed by NFF until Dangote paid him...even those early 2000s I started watching ball, our Super Eagles have always been complaining about lack of payment from the then NFA and poor planning for the players. This problem has always existed if you followed our Super Eagles way back. |
