Russia will license-produce the Thales Damocles reconnaissance and target designation pod for its air force strike aircraft, following successful tests of the system with Malaysia's Sukhoi Su-30MKM multirole fighter. Comparative trials involving Damocles and the Ural Optical and Mechanical Plant (UOMZ)-produced Sapsan and Solux targeting pods went in favour of the French design

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Damocles_(targeting_pod)

attributed to the country's aircraft upgradation programs.
Thanks bro, I didn't know this.

4th August 2021, Aiteo group, one of Nigeria’s largest indigenous energy companies will be donating an assortment of maritime assets to the Nigerian Navy including Gun boats, house boats, drones and interceptor boats.

In 2019 Aiteo founder Benedict Peters ordered 50 NPU-650 patrol boats from James boat shipbuilding company in Hanoi and 10 armoured Manta class interceptors from Hong Ha shipyard also in Vietnam.

Excerpts from the SADC Technical Assessment report that was done ahead of the Mozambique mission. Had the report weeks ago but didn't want to post here before the mission commenced, for obvious reasons.

I hope this deployment will awaken your politicians from their slumber to fund the SANDF as it deserves

This is not bad. Proper deployment by participating countries.

I really like Botswana's deployment. Troops look very professional, vehicles standardised, plus the the Piranha V 8x8 IFVs deployed, beautiful!!!

What's happening with the Badger program?

It seems suspended.

No fighter jets?

This would have been a good opportunity to deploy Gripens.

There is a video on YouTube showing the accuracy of one of the guided bomb technologies deployed on the Super Tucano.
The inert bombs landed accurately on the roofs of Humvees parked at the exercise grounds 10,000ft below the aircraft that launched them.

Based on the Technical Assessment, no need for fighter jets.
My own quibbles are:
1) the number of transport helicopters and UAVs is inadequate. Cabo Delgado province is too vast for the numbers provided;

2) I fear they've underestimated the logistics requirements. 3x C130 (2 SAAF & 1 BDF) and 1 Angolan il-76 may not be enough. As it is, SAS Drakensberg is being readied to ship some equipment and supplies to Pemba port.

When it comes to SADC militaries, Botswana is in a sweet spot when it comes to funding. The small size has allowed them to focus on quality over quantity.
Hell, at the moment they're trying to decide amongst Gripen, KAI FA-50 and the Yanks have also entered the fray with an offer of the F-16. Not a bad place to be.

The Badger? Like all our impending projects, a decade of mismanagement of Denel under Zuma and chums, has put the programme into the back burner. The sad thing is that the SANDF has already paid, and if Denel were a private company, they could've imposed financial penalties for the delays or asked for their money back.

Turkey struggled to export to the Philippines due to export regulations on the US made engine and also failed to export to Pakistan for the above reason. TAI is currently in talks to shift engine production to Ukraine for the T-129 ATAK II. If the rumors are true, NAF has a lot of hoops to jump through to get those birds.
