There's nothing like filling air, fuel is not gas. When people say they filled air in their vehicle I just laugh and tell them that they bought a bad fuel that burns fast due to adulteration.

1. The pumping of air is not possible if the meter is reading. So, just make sure your meter starts from 0.00 reading.

2. There is no how long nuzzles or pipes return fuel into the engine, if your reading displays the exact amount you purchase.

Most of the things you wrote here is very untrue because I work in a filling station.

This was my line of business. The key is keep your eyes on the meter and avoid anything that would take your attention from it especially small talks from those seemingly beautiful pump attendants or the supposedly friendly ones. They can finish you in no time and without stress. You must also ensure that the meter starts from Zero for any transactions made. Then see to it that the pump stops running after they sell to you so they don't reserve to sell to another. The pumps are designed to stop running after every purchase is completed.

I don't cheat customer,I make money through Cashback,transfer and benevolence of some customers because of hard I work.
The Pump we in my station,once you hang it back it starts from zero there's no magic you can do about that nothin like recall on it.
When a customer comes and you type in the amount he/she wants to purchase,the meter starts from zero and stops at the said amount automatically.
There's nothing like fuel remaining in the nozzle or hose and going back to the engine,the machine pumps it out till it gets to the amount you're typed in b4 you started dispensing.
It's not possible to pump because there are times like yesterday when fuel finished in the underground tank,the machine will stop reading of fuel isn't getting to it or it reads slowly if the fuel been sucked is not adequate.
There's no such thing as pumping air.

Most if this things are things you do not have control over, I mark my Jerrican somewhere for a particular amount ones I buy at your station and noticed you are a fraud, you won't see me again.
Then another thing to watch for are those people that will stand in front of you but tell you that the metre they are selling from is the one at the back, so you need to go to the back to watch the metre, whereas before you get to where the metre is, they would have start selling. Once you tell me that, forget the business for that day.

Best comment ever. Generally all of us In alimosho burn people daily. Even if they steal pure water we burn. We also live in caves and use electricity only on Christmas day. Our family members on the island or any other part apart of Lagos state are given presidential welcomes anytime they return home.

There are primarily two ways they shortchange the customer when buying petrol.
1. The pump is adjusted abinitio to dispense less than expected. This does not only affect targeted customers but everyone that buys from such pump, and there is not much to do than to report/complain to regulatory agencies like DPR.
2. Carrying over the last sales bill into the unsuspecting or distracted customers bill by not hanging the nozzle properly to reset to zero. If the sales before you was 2000 naira and the attendant continues without resetting to zero, you get 2000 naira less value for whatever amount of purchase made. Here, you can complain to the manager/supervisor and seek redress when the discrepancy is quite obvious, thats why they mostly attempt such trick when the previous purchase is small like 500 or 1000 and the new purchase is high like 4 or 5000 naira, else the scam is easily detectable. Ensure the meter is reset to zero always before they commence dispensing to your car.

DPR!!! Those ones are rogues that only visit the stations to get their cut. Any station that you find sealed by DPR are the ones that failed to remit a certain amount to them. Those guys are rogues. Weights and measures and the DPR will come to you for roger and whether your pump is complete or not or you did not flout any law they will still take money from you. This nation is run only on corruption sadly.

Really? Nothing new here except the condensation...and most parts are badly written.

There's no such thing as pumping of air.
Not all pump attendant cheat.
I've been working in a filling station for more than a year now if I were to be a cheat I won't have lasted this long.
I prefer to ask some of this Yahoo boys for cash than think of defrauding a customer.


Yesterday at work,a guy wanted to do transfer of 1k to me so I'll give him cash,he transferred 2k and asked me to keep 1k,collected his 1k and left.

I just check meter reading, that's all. Check to see the attendant rubs off the last reading-especially if a napep or bike has just bought fuel of 500 or less because they sometimes start from there and if you're buying like 3,000 fuel or thereabouts, you may not notice. As per the nuzzle returning my fuel, that's not something I can help if it still shows the correct amount on their machine! We really need to watch the unnecessarily jovial attendant because truly he/she will mostly cheat you...it happened to me at a Total filling station.

What of those who put in the amount you wanna buy instead of in meter

Most of what is written there can only be detected by an experienced person, probably someone who has worked as a fuel attendant previously.
I don't know how I want to know when air is being pumped into my car since I don't live in the tank.
A long nozzle not emptying completely makes sense, but how do I prevent that?
Cut the nozzle to get the remaining fuel?

If metre is adjusted to dispense lesser than what is obtainable, how do we know?

If an old price is recalled, will it automatically reflect on the screen?

These are simply methods used in scamming us and not solutions

Ok boss.

The first thing to do to prevent anything is come down before negotiating price.

Secondly, avoid longer dispensers. You can also know if the meter is recalled by looking at the total fuel put in your truck on the meter (but first, observing what the attendant types will help. If you say ₦5000, and when they press it, you see sth like a very fast figure different from yours, raise alarm). More so, you cannot readily know meters that are reset; majorly all are. You just have to monitor via your purchase using a gallon first.

You need to note reputable filling stations, at times its the managers who coach the pump attendants on how to cheat customers.
Some in PH sell kpofire PMS which can damage your 02 sensors and engine.

Pump attendants are necessary evils, some even sell escort services, if you know you know.
