You really keep showing how backward an education in Kenya is

No wonder your certificates dont take you anywhere

Again, that is the amount of the fund in 2011

Mehn I'm really more interested with satellite cities such as alaro and tatu city. Huge fan of the work that has been done at tatu.
Alaro city is also going the same way, but it's hard to get videos or photos from the site on the internet unlike at tatu where the team has a drone and lots of quality camera.

I did some diging and this are what I found.
Ariel foods
Kenol
Hmd have built or almost finished their factories.
With lots more like rungas etc about to start.

Mkenya2019:
You're not very smart. The best mix of debt is actually 50:50 or more or less like kenya is now doing. The moment you borrow more from domestic market; you crowd out the private sector; because all the banks and such funds; will simply lend to gov; which will never default and is almost risk free money.

What Nigeria is doing is therefore crazy - because you're enriching bankers - and leaving the rest of Nigeria paupers. That is why poverty in Nigeria is increasing at such rate you will not lose the poverty capital anytime soon.

The avergae Nigeria interest is 30 percent - because why would the banks lend to Nigerians...when it can simply lend to it's broke gov.

Let us just say there is NO SINGLE day Nigeria will teach kenya anything.

Leave alone in prudent financial management. Impossible. Ghana is exposing itself to exogonious risks (forex and interest rate) while Nigeria the other monkey is swingly wildly killing it's private sector.

Nigeria for it's cooked economy should be borrowing 150B externally and another 150B externally - and using it to invest in Nigeria.

You country look 3rd world....I saw this guy who drove from Lagos to Camerron border--- I was thinking that would be the nice part of Nigeria - it pathetic

In fact I am going to check how much your banks lend to private sector and individuals . I was surprised last year when I saw Central Bank of Nigeria is lending money to rice farmers...that is clue that something is wrong with your banks.

Probably the most senseless post on nairaland.

I stopped reading at the first paragraph where you said foreign debts are safer than domestic debts. All because you are drunk on foreign debts. The exchange rate volatility makes foreign debts risky. Any good student of economics will tell you that.

People like you are the reason the IMF has your government in its back pocket. grin

Good reading for Obaboon - in summary Nigeria is aim to become Kenya in 2050 like |Ghana
https://www.dmo.gov.ng/publications/other-publications/debt-management-strategy/3163-nigeria-s-debt-management-strategy-2020-2023-draft/file

DMO office - trying to fix the mess.

4.0 Objectives of the Debt Management Strategy, 2020-2023
The Objectives which were the drivers of the DMS, 2020-2023 were:
i. Borrowing from External and Domestic sources will be in line with the Funding Structure
for New Borrowings in the MTEF, 2020-2023 and Appropriation Acts;

ii. Reducing the cost of Debt Service, as measured by the ratio of Interest Payments-toRevenue ratio. The Strategy recognises that the achievement of this objective, depends
on significant increase in the Government’s revenue;
iii. Moderating the level of Debt-related Risks namely Refinancing and Foreign Exchange
Risks.
iv . Maximizing funds available to Nigeria from Multilateral and Bilateral sources in order to
access cheaper and long tenored funds, whilst taking cognisance of the limited funding
envelopes available to Nigeria, due to Nigeria’s classification as a Lower-Middle-Income
country;

v. Ensure Debt Sustainability, as measured by the Debt to GDP ratio, (which should be
within the WB/IMF’s recommended threshold of 55 percent), and Interest Payment to
Revenue Ratios;
vi. Sustaining the issuances of longer-tenored debt instruments in both the domestic debt
market and International Financial Markets; and,
vii. Introduction of new debt instruments (possibly Inflation-Linked Bonds and
Infrastructure Bonds) to meet the needs of investors, thereby increasing the ability of
FGN to raise funds and to deepen the Domestic Capital Market.
Another senseless post.
You even started with name calling. I stopped reading at that point. wink You're really pained by all this debt talk. grin

Kenya should learn to manage its backbreaking debt like Nigeria has done. You have a lot to learn from us.

Again don't justify it by referencing the US, that's day and night comparison

Misery loves company.
You wish kenya was broke like Nigeria. Please look for Ethiopia - that is one struggling right now - and is certainly defaulting. Or Ghana bossom buddies Zambia and your boko haram neighour Chad.
Kenya continue to collect more taxes than pre-covid.
Debt repayment has resumed - after six month hiatus.

Ghana will soon be where Zambia is - with their Eurobond

Zambia, which has been in default since November last year after the coronavirus pandemic added to its long-running debt problem, has made little progress under the G20 framework ahead of elections in August.

If you bothered to read the report from your own DMO - you'd have understood that borrowing 85 percent from the domestic market - is completely crowding our private and household borrowing. In short, you banksters are making serious money doing nothing. While poverty in your country has by now exceeded 100M people.

Kenya has never defaulted.
Kenya has never been part of HIPC

Kenya, Laos, Liberia, Malawi, Somalia, and Sudan have never received a concessional rescheduling from the Paris Club.
https://www.imf.org/external/np/hipc/cost4/index.htm

Kenya was an LDC until 2013/2014 when it became Low Middle Income Country.

Now we are half way to become High/Upper Middle Income Country - which we hit before 2030 when our nominal GDP per capita will hit 4000usd.

Both domestic and external debt have cons and prons.
You need to get the right mix;
And even within that domestic or external debt; you need to get the right mix.

External debt - exposes the country to exogenous risk (forex risks) - and if commercial (flexible interest rate risks).

Borrowing internally - kills the private sector - because they cannot compete with risk-free gov bonds - that is why Nigeria interest rate for borrowing is 30 percent - and poverty is endemic.

Most domestic borrowing comes from banks, insurance and pension funds - you take too much of that - you kill private sector, local investment and stunt the economy.

That is where Nigeria is. TINY private sector. Zero tax collection. Poverty.

Ghana seems to be like kenya with right mix of 50:50; the problem with Ghana; they have taken a huge chunk of dangerous Eurobond (commercial foreign loan) - if their interest rate rises from 10 percent now to Zambia 17 percent - and if their Cedis depreciate against the dollar - they WILL DEFAULT - leading to another lost decade to clean such kind of a gigantic mess.

Second Niger Bridge project (Almost completed )
6-lanes, The first phase of the Second Niger Bridge project is the Bridge and about 10km of Highway, as well as an Interchange and a Toll Station; the remaining length of highway will I believe be completed as a second phase.
1.6 km (0.99 mi) long and furnished with other ancillary infrastructure including a 10.3 km (6.4 mi) highway, Owerri interchange and a toll station all at Obosi city, expected to be completed in the year 2022

All coming along nicely, financed by the Presidential Infrastructure Development Fund (PIDF) that President Buhari established in 2018, with $650m in seed funding, to deliver on critical road projects across the country.

Infact the people in charge of alaro had to travel to tatu city to copy the model and replicate it over here.
U might say that alaro has an overall edge of being located at the lekki free trade zone.
Everything u mentioned about alaro city is what tatu also is. Infact is so similar that some companies have same thing planned in the two cities. Companies such as universal homes, Ariel food,nova pioneer etc

actually alaro city is going too well.
Tatu city started about 2014 with over 60 companies penned down and about 20 have already constructed.

Alaro started 2019 over 40 penned down and about 4 being constructed. Appolonia not doing to well industrially, but they have cheap housing and data collection center.

Alaro is aimed at being a mixed used development with a high density business district,tatu is not. Tatu is yet again another mere estate entering into the collection of Kenya’s crappy estate.
