But it seem Russia and China are the one sponsoring the Taliban so I don’t expect any new emerging power than the two we already know and I think lot of afghans are behind Taliban because I don’t understand how they are gaining ground so fast if the populace are not behind them

Russia is interested in Afghanistan because some Russian terrorists fighters from russia muslim chenchens and Muslim fighters from countries bodering Russia e.g Tajikistan, Uzbekistan are in Afghanistan fighting for al Qaeda, Russia wants regional peace and wants taliban to deal with these set of terrorists while China has a border with Afghanistan and a Uighur muslim population who are ethnically Turkish, this Uighur group also have militiamen fighting in Afghanistan, China want Taliban to destroy that group.

I know they were there before but Russia of the 90s isn’t the same as today. They are ruthless & more technologically advance now just as the China of pre WWII was not a powerful one.
