It's a win-win situation. The west needs immigrants, especially highly skilled immigrants just as much as we need them. We pay taxes while at the same time help develop their economy. Remember Nikola Tesla was an immigrant. Same as Elon Musk.

Off course he has preference. Advanced countries will always have more skilled technicians than countries like Nigeria. Even the Nigerians who are skilled are stolen by the advance countries.

Immigrants from Nigeria can be a skilled worker in the US, but many also will overstay their visa.

A Norwegian man is also less likely to do illegal activity in the US than a Nigerian man.

I am not saying they are not good enough base on what I have said.

For recent immigrants into Canada the main reason they were taken was that you are highly skilled and can contribute to their economy immediately. In the 80s when the US had a shortage of farmworkers they allowed immigrants in the Agriculture sector in a lot.

As an immigrant, I am very grateful to the US for the privilege that was given to me what my country of birth cannot give me. I have no right to their citizenship, it's a privilege that I am forever grateful for
