I spotted something strange. The article says same company is behind about 5 leading milk brands in Nigeria. That is like a disguise of monopoly.
One big company wants monopoly of the market and therefore creates many of the same product under different names, thereby giving the public the perception of a competitive market.

I don't think the acquisition is based on monopoly.
Friesland (maker of Peak milk) and Campina merged to form FrieslandCampina. Then FrieslandCampina merged with West Africa Milk Company (WAMCO) (maker of Three Crowns) to form FrieslandCampina WAMCO Plc.

NOW FrieslandCampina WAMCO has bought PZ Nutricima (maker of Olympic, Nunu and Coast milk)

The company could no longer meet the strength of doing business in Nigeria, hence the need to buy over and expand her manufacturing facilities.


As it is today, the two main milk companies in Nigeria are FrieslandCampina and Promassidor

There are still many in the dairy business. We still have Arla markers of Dano, Oriental markers of Luna and Popular, we have Chi markers of Holland is and some other smaller company.

Nutricima was doing fine till it's integration with PZ cussons this actually took out focus from Nutricima business and it's started suffering decline YoY. The business was no longer profitable and was eating into other operating profits. Hence the need to sell off

I just have 2 questions;

1. How do I enter the competition and what is the price ?

2. Is NUNU an English word.

Nunu is not an English. It's an abreviation for nutrition nurture

Nah...it's not Monopoly. Nutricima was doing quite well before the leadership of the entire business merged the home and personal care with the diary business since PZ cussons was the bigger business and it's acquired it from glambia. Overtime, people started leaving the business focus was not placed on the milk again so they decided to put it up for sale. Friesland came and bought it over and they need to start making back their money Asap

The difference between Peak Milk and Three Crown is significant.

Peak milk can be taken by people below 40 years. It contains Fat

Three Crowns is for people aged 40 and above. It contains Oil

Fullcream milk like peak milk, coast, hollandai evap, cowbell tin are from original animal source while filled milk like 3crowns, Luna, Popular milk, cowbell sachet are from plant source most especially soymilk.
