That's why Nigerians can't construct a bridge like that of the one river Niger is crossing.

you have a valid point here..... always calling China or UK or Germany to build things for them and never being able to build anything themselves. the one they build themselves end up being useless....but I don't think it has to do with the color of ones skin.... more has to do with the prevailing culture of unseriousness in Nigeria

I like the part you mentioned "French State" - at least you understand what is going on....

But you claimed that they have no power over Africa. YET THEY EVEN HAVE FRANCOPHONE NATIONS IN AFRICA.

People who see nothing they like about Nigeria would see a whole lot of things they like when they travel abroad! I can't think of any country that allows more freedom than Nigeria.
Freedom to do what?

I like the fact that nature is kind to us, no much flood, earthquake, etc
Maybe that's why we don't feel the need to do anything innovative.

I didn't say they have no power in Africa.... I said they don't wanna leave Africa alone and that independence of former French colonies is only on paper....we are effectively saying the same thing.

That's called minding your space and your business. Stuffs you see around the highbrow areas of Nigeria.
Unless, you want to live around those gossiping neighbors; who might come as friends in the first instance and later pour hot soup on you when their gossiping get to a boiling point! grin

Who told you minding your business is always good?
Do you know the number of people that died in their houses here and it took days or even weeks before police or others got to know
We check on each other in Nigeria and it’s not a bad thing and it’s not always about gossiping
I know one incident that happened in Texas that one man was worried about his neighbor instead of going to check if she was okay
He decided to call the police for a wellness check and the police came saw a shadow in the woman’s house and killed the person. The shadow was the woman and she was killed right in her house because the man didn’t go to check himself but decided to call the police. Why ? Because everybody stays on their own.

What I like about Nigeria is, if you eventually get money, u will enjoy it here to the fullest without any restriction - buy fleet of cars, buy or build ur houses without paying any single tax for them.

I have never liked Nigeria. When I was in ivory coast. I enjoyed uninterrupted power supply and the country was very well organized. I love Nigeria because I have spent so many years here I miss our meals. Those people over there don't know how to prepare our own cuisine too well. I believe whenever I moved to a better country like USA or Canada. I go tell this country bye bye. This I have seen like that falseprophet for the thread they always talk grin grin

Well said.

The people.

They are resilient, persistent, hardworking and driven with a sense of humor second to none. They can make a joke of anything and everything.

I love the sense of community. The unsolicited concern about others welfare, especially in rural communities. It's your unwritten duty to check if your neighbor has returned from journey or not...or if it is actually mama Titi that's making the sound from her compound.

Family's got your back too. You can be completely jobless for months and still have a roof over your head and food to eat...no matter how little.

Need money to start business? The family contributes, no matter how little. In anything you do or face in life, you're not just doing so alone.

In summary, the harsh, cold, I-don't-owe-you-shit way of life perculiar to the west does not hold here. Over there, relationship of any form is purely transactional. you're all alone against the harsh realities of life...no matter how many neighbours or family members arround you.

Sadly though, we're losing this priceless feature every single day, and i fear we'll soon become hollowed, empty, cold and souless like them.

In our last street interview, we felt that despite the bad narrative about Nigeria and the inconsistency of our government or leaders in particular, there are still some things that looking at other countries, Nigeria and Nigerians are by far performing best at. We've heard a couple of success stories from different sectors in Nigeria despite the hardship in the nooks and crannies of this nation. Then, we decided to ask this simple question "What do you love about Nigeria?" A lot of responses we got proved that Nigeria can still be developed if well managed by the right set of leaders. This is a 2 minute brief of what several Nigerians told us about what they love about Nigeria. In your own opinion, what would you say you love about Nigeria really?
