We should all realize that no matter what Puig does, he is not good enough in the eyes of the coach.
So sad
I so love Puig
That goal was just classic.

Am I the only cule that didn't get too emotional today?
I've long been prepared for this day though.

Funny and unbelievable as it seems, i have quickly gotten over Lionel Messi.

As in, though he is still my favorite but right now, all I care about right now is Barcelona.

I was watching the match against Juventus and at some point, i totally forgot about Messi, all i could think about was the Barca players on the pitch especially Memphis.

The combo of fati and Memphis would wreck havock to any defense.

I still believe in this guys, something keep telling me we will even do better than we did for the past years.

There is light at the end of every tunnel for barcelona.
GOD bless barcelona.
Barca till i die!!!!!!

True
little expectation from Fati
but we could get through if Cowman get his tactics right and our attack line is clinical
i also see Puig get some playing time
You were on point about Puig. He really did good against Juve.

Overall, twas a very promising outlook for this Barca team from the excellent performance against Juve. The link-up play between midfield and attack was breathtaking atimes.

But then tis also possible that Juve might not have been psyched up as Barca team who had just lost Messi and had a point to prove. So that keeps my optimism in check.

We wait, see and hope that this form is carried through into the season proper. Still, the future now doesn't look so bad post-Messi which is a good thing.

I honestly pray that Demir, Griezman and Depay... Not forgetting Ansu, remain fit and deadly.

I wish the same for the rest guys too.

Adios Messi. Go and further cement your legacy in Paris and just leave the rest to us

What a rollercoaster, emotional week for Cules angry

I was devastated that Messi had to leave but I knew it was the right decision by the club leadership. FCB must continue at all cost. Now it has cost us the GOAT sad sad.

Hopefully, deadwoods like Umtiti, Pjanic, Coutinho, Braithwaite, Lenglet, Roberto also follows suit. It will be counter productive if Messi had to leave while these players still remain.

Umtiti was booed yesterday to a pulp. I hope he reads the handwriting on the wall and find himself another club. It will be a start of many more boos to come unless he respects himself and leave while he still can.

I am very excited to see what the future holds for the club now that Messi has gone. A cloud of uncertainty have been hanging over players like Grezimann. Messi's towering shadow had closed in on him and weighed him down. Can we begin to see the best of Grezimann? Can he stand up and assume his position as the leader of our attack going forward?

I
Tbh you've said it all I rather we lose messi to a better side where he wouldn't have to work twice as hard as of the past few years at barca and recover financially than keep him and become more bankrupt and probably not grant him a fifth UCL title, Laporta tried all he could but sadly tebas tried to blackmail him, I assure you if the super league clicks many would come back to bite their words, If I was Laporta I would have done the same thing, messi deserves the best for the last few playing days of his career but not at the club's expense, The years of rebuilding post Messi have just been pushed forward, Other talent need to show us what they can do instead of hiding under his glory and masterclass, The journey would be tough, we might make references to him when the team isn't doing well in the final third, we might lose 6-0,7-0, might struggle to advance in the UCL, might end up trophyless, will be trolled till kingdom come but with the right decisions we would bounce back, We might never get a player as distinguished and magical as him ever, might never get one who delivers goals and assists both in bulk but it's great knowing most of the legacy in catalonia came from him, It's time to show what we can do post messi

Well koeman won't stay forever If well groomed pedri and Puig or Gavi with de Jong at the base can form a lethal midfield in the future, I don't think Renato would solve anything cause I'm not sold on his passing and creative abilities Get a legit defender (mostly likely loan) and the transition won't be that hard,

Well said!!

I have been advocating that Messi should have left last season. Not because I started disliking Messi. No. Because, we were not getting better even with him. Most teams that wallop us day in day out, does not have Messi or anyone close to him in their ranks. So why were we still so bad?

Bartomeu was a coward. He knew he had put Barca in a very bad place. He couldn't bring himself to be seen as president who lost Messi. He refused to do the right thing for the future of the club. He knew what had to be done. Barca can no longer afford someone as big as Messi. It was as simple as that.

Club's economy got worse. The football also got worse.

Looking back at the last 5 years, we didn't get better as club even with Messi banging in goals. Lots of bad decisions from the club management because they expected Messi to cover for all the loopholes but it showed we were never getting stronger even though we had the best player on our ranks. Lots of players signed at a big cost, hiding away from responsibility while smiling to the bank every month.

What people fail to understand is that football (sports in general) always take care of itself. When one legend takes a bow, sport brings up yet another one.

I have alot of high hopes from some of young players we have today. Someone like Yusuf Demir can yet become the next phenomenon.

Of all the delawoods you listed, Coutinho is still a redeemable one as he may yet fit in into a set-up without Messi. The others are foregone conclusions.

Yeah. Infact I pray Ansu regains full fitness and form so as to keep Depay on his toes as I'm not sure both can be accommodated in the same line-up.

When Fati comes back, it's most likely going to be a Fati - Depay and Griezmann combo except if one of them is benched and pedri is moved to the left wing just like in the days of iniesta

Good. Aguero is out for 3 months.

Can we sign a proper striker now please?

Anyone relying on Aguero this season is wasting there time angry

Why not? Both can feature on the flanks or play the center forward while Griezman plays the free role/Right-wing position, since Goatwhaite leaves got Westham very soon. Dembele might still stay until next season but we know he has taken an oath with injuries.

Whatever makes Pedri play on the wings is gonna be a testament to killing him. Let him remain in the midfield and coordinate his play. I'll prefer to see Coutinho move there than Pedri. Else, he'll deal with lots of injuries.

grin grin grin grin at the emboldened

On them playing together, your submission makes sense though. My concern was that Ansu and Depay have similar playing style by operating from the left flank and none is a proper striker. But the fluid spanish-styled system should accommodate them both.

Not the most ideal formation, but still workable. Ideal formation is to have Depay Aguero and Greizmann with Pedri operating behind, or Depay Aguero and Fati with Pedri and Greizmann immediately behind them in a 3-4-3 set up.

Modified: With Aguero's recurring injuries, Fati might as well play as the main striker.

Griezmann will be suppressed if restricted to the right wing. He needs to play in the free role Messi vacated for him to perform optimally.
