As earlier stated the major reason while your data presentation was like that is due to the fact that you didn't click the resistivity button or Voltage and Current ....

Thank you Godsgift there are lots of company rendering training services, I don't because i was given free and sufficient enough is God. I carry out the services for individuals and corporate companies who need it but not training.

I want to discuss about Soil testing from laboratory to field testing and wants to start with Sieve Analysis which is one of the most important test in Civil Engineering ....[color=#000099][/color]

[b]Sieve Analysis is known as Gradation. Its carried in two ways Dry and Wet sieving
I am limiting myself to dry sieving for the purpose of writing and its easy.
Sieve Analysis done by first taking samples either through hand auger or recovered from standard penetration test during soil investigation and other means which samples may be taken put in a sample bag, labelled and air dried or oven dried and the lumps in the sample is crushed or hand picked(squeezed) to make it even.
The sample is ensured fully dried depending on air drying or oven dried which you can only know through feeling( i guess u know)
Kindly take a small fraction of the soil sample, weigh preferable about 500g into a known weight container or bowl.
pour the sample into a set of sieve and after shaking for a good number of times manually or placed on a sieve shaker for some minutes we can weigh individual sample retained in each set of sieves.

There are methods in the British and American standard to assist us in carrying out determining the required set of sieves depending on the type of samples under investigation (fine, coarse and Aggregates).

The weighted sample in each set of sieves is recorded against its set of sieve and percentage retained is calculated which is plot on a Log-Log graph .
on the graph ... the percentage of silt, fine and coarse sample can be determined and as well other important calculation and deductions can be made such as D10, D60 and Cc ....
Kindly find the appropriate standard relevant to your proposed work for more guide ...

Nice thread. I recently started learning borehole drilling and it's interesting but not easy though.. 200Ft wells. There's an aspect I would love to learn i.e the logging aspect. Is it appropriate to do the logging before or after casing the well? Then again, the equipment my boss brought for it wasn't really friendly because it's my first time and I have trying to get a manual on it online. It's a 'Megger Earth Tester', however I doubt if it can be used for the job as everything I saw online about it was referring to 'ground resistance'. Please kindly enlighten me on how it is done and the right equipment.

Thank you for the question @ogunpikin .
After iteration, and saving the document to show the exploration profile.

You will see the top formation as your top soil or overburden cover.
If it is a basement complex for example some areas in Ibadan, ABEOKUTA or Osogbo, Akure. The top 2 years are overburden but carefully check the resistivity of the layer and check in relative text for better correlation. Thanks

Thank you for your question. The idea of knowing the resistivity to put comes to the geology of the area where is basement or sedimentary. The knowledge of the local geology is important as such good understanding of the resistivity of materials such as fresh water, Saline water, overburden, Sand and the like helps a lot.
There are perfect curves for matching which you can use to identify the type and nature of curve
Be blessed.

How about the efficiency of those new modern equipments e.g ADMT, PQWT.
