Hi mums hope our LOs are doing great, I am a first time mom, pls what good baby product can I use for my baby I have been using cussons for about a week n it is darkening my baby what can I use to return her to her colour n maintain her colour, also the oil dries out her hair n thins it out wat can I use. Tnx
Start with not oiling her hair everyday. In my personal experience, my baby got dark in the 2 months her Grandma was bathing her and pouring oil on the fontanelle that was dripping down her face. Caused her rashes too. All I did was stop the oil when I took over and her color returned.
If you can afford it, Aveeno and Sebamed are very hypoallergenic good products that wouldn't irritate your babies skin.

Also, the 'hair thinning' might be cradle cap. That needs to be treated. Is her scalp dry and scally?

Baby will be fine for the trip. But how about the mummy? Will she be fine for the trip? Has she recovered fully?

U r right though I will observe her for the next couple of days tnx.
LadySarah:

Lol. Momma that color is ur baby's original color. Most babies are born fair and gradually darken within the ist 2 yrs of their lives.
Know this and have peace.Cussons for me is good. You don't want to start using products detrimental to ur baby's fragile skin/organs.

I didn't quite get the hair part.

2 weeks?! Please, if that trip is not compulsory, don't stress yourself and your baby.
If you must and can afford it, please go by air. That distance is no joke.

I use Cussons too. If your baby is getting dark in complexion, that's her true complexion biko. Know this, and know peace grin grin
For the hair, please check if she is having scally scalp, or eela (don't know what it is called in English) and treat accordingly.

Congratulations.
Those drugs are not necessary just breastfeed your baby according to doctors but those our mothers that gave birth in the 1990s will be hammering on the drug like its the pathway to heaven.
For the BCG I got for my baby a week after I gave birth this is due to the fact that there's a day scheduled for immunisation. L
Take care of baby and mummy.

Is he your first and how often does he get to play with kids of his age outside of school environment where they could always be shuushed by teachers and all?

I'm asking cos we suffered the same not knowing loneliness was killing my 2 yr old plus.Just taking him for holidays at my moms where kids still converge to play solved it. First he started stuttering and in less than 2 weeks words were pouring.
Today I beg him to close his mouth and learnt to incorporate playtime which really changed him.
All these ''always''indoors are not helping some of them.
Yes he is my first. I try to give him playtime and drop him with kids and he will start school next month. I am just hoping and praying he talks very soon.
Thanks

Good afternoon mamas.
Please I just discovered my baby was pulling his left ear and I took a touch to check, lo and behold I saw creamy discharge in the ear coming to the external part.
I plan to visit hospital tomorrow but I want to know if anyone has experienced this before.

Pls help! My baby’s hair is falling off. He was born with full hair but now he has like 3 bald patches in different parts of the head. Does anyone know the cause and how it can be treated? I have read about cradle cap and I don’t think it’s cradle cap. Pls don’t scroll past without responding. Help a worried mother.

the distance is too far, at that age..they are too small forbaby car seats, and cos of safety, you can carry them in your arms...then again..the airline type bassinets, which are used for long trips, isnt safe in a car, incase of a crash or potholes...if you can find a way to secure the baby, lying down on her back..best option then. ..my recommendation is to go by air....the possibility of the baby sustaining long term damage is there....all because of of few thousand naira

Good evening, moms.
Please, I'd like to know if I can start with custard (flavoured ones like banana flavour) and tea with milk for my 10 months old.
I think she's already tired of the brown pap I give her. I'm tired of it too.
She takes Cerelac too, Nutribom with Nan2 (once in a while), and semo and soup.
She has started rejecting noodles and spaghetti. I don't know what to do again. I need help here.

Most likely infection. No worries, just make sure to see a pediatrician and it'll be sorted.

Why do you think its not cradle cap? Cos what you've described sounds very much like cradle cap.
But trust your institution, if you think its not then please go see your pediatrician.

Closest airport to Kogi (lokoja) is Abuja, 146km away.
I dont know the condition of the road but it's a private car and I believe who's driving will drive carefully so the baby will be fine if carried properly.
The mother, on the other hand, has probably not even recovered from the delivery. What if she had episiotomy or CS and can barely sit down?
The way mothers are neglected in these decisions is worrying.
Even the flight should be postponed till at least 1 month for the new mom....

No tea till 1yr.
Are these the only foods she takes?

Amala and ewedu/okro with fish scattered inside
Boiled egg
Avocado cut in pieces so she can't eat herself if she's already trying to eat by herself.
Mashed Beans and plantain
Mashed Yam porridge
Mashed Sweet potatoes
Bread and Peanut butter spread
Oatmeal with milk
Yoghurt
Fruits (bananas, she can eat it herself)
Fish/chicken/beef
Etc
