The U.S. and Nigeria have a long-standing partnership. The bilateral relationship is built on several pillars including security cooperation. Nigeria is a key partner in countering violent extremist organizations

While in the issue of "Rwanda's military campaign" in Mozambique. We all know that Paul Kagame is there just for the PR show. Their military onslaught last week was nothing besides a PR show. See why:

This is a joint military venture between African countries in a country in need. The campaign should be coordinated under a single command like all multinational military operations. Rwanda knows this because it's part of Amani Africa II training and agreements.
So, Rwanda decided to act alone while countries were deploying their troops in order to gain some PR. In reality, they didn't do a dent on the enemy besides displaying to everyone that they're there to boost Kagame's ego.

I'd also like to disagree with the "DefenceWeb" article which says the deployment was sluggish. Countries were doing their long term deployment assessments. This military operation will last for years. The area of operation is 3 times the size of Israel and it's one big jungle. It's going to be a very slow fight.

So what's next? The insurgents will melt into the jungles, they'll resort to guerrilla warfare. They'll be attacking military targets and then vanish. They'll attack the infrastructure and vanish, they'll kidnap civilians and vanish again. They'll recruit more to join their fight, they'll use the existence of foreign troops as a tool to radicalise and recruit more youngsters.

The war will eventually have to go to the deep muddy jungles where the cameras and APCs won't go. The world will lose interest before it could be won.

I don't blame Kagame so much. None of this would've happened without the corrupt and venal Felipe Nyusi of Mozambique. Nyusi was asked by SADC about a year ago for a political, social, economic and military plan to deal with the insurgency in Cabo Delgado. What did Nyusi do?
He presented SADC with a shopping list of military equipment he needed.
Nothing about political, social and economic plans to address the legitimate grievances of people in Cabo.
And lest we forget, his home province. But people from his region in the interior of the province have been partaking of the illegal economic activity in rubies, heroin smuggling and unproven- arms dealing with the insurgents on the coast.

SADC was well aware of all these dynamics, and Palma provided the leverage they needed to force him to play ball.
Now comes the part where I blame Kagame: as past chairman of the AU and with a proficient intelligence service, Kagame knew all this. What's he playing at?

The biggest culprit is my own country though: SA knows exactly which benefits from the criminal enterprise in Cabo. We know why the Mozambican govt pulled out of the naval patrol agreement when they found out we were also sending submarines out there.

We are the 4th biggest investor in the gas fields after France, Italy and the USA, yet haven't been as assertive.

Zuma was a ruralitarian, and SA's global outlook was always going to diminish with him in charge; Ramaphosa is too timid in getting us back to where we were under Mbeki in 2007.

Anyway, with regards to your comments, this political squabble is unnecessary. Participating nations should work together for Mozambique's security, no need to politicise who is working with who and under what chain of command.

As we have seen in Nigeria, an insurgency has a tendency to drag on for many, many years. Are the participating countries willing to go the long haul for Mozambique?

This is a revelation to me. I'd love for you to refer me to any credible South African site that obsesses over a single African country.

I'm on Nairaland because my country disregards the rest of the continent. Hell, South Africans, black and white, say, "I'm going to Africa", when traveling to any other country on the continent.

What's this obsessing you're talking about? I seriously would love to interact with compatriots who actually take the rest of our continent that seriously.

Really that's a huge KwaZulu natal confidence you got going on.

With all the looting, HIV/aids, world's worst murder rate, world's worst inequality, Africa's worst unemployment rate........ I'll leave you to it.

I think no more small ships.
No more IPVs, SDBs, OPVs.
Deep Blue Project is in operational phase already with special mission aircrafts, UAVs and tens of small ships and boats.

The Navy should now buy a destroyer or a submarine.

Yes you post what you aren't sure off, and if you posted the source with the picture, I wouldn't be asking right? Because what you posted gave room for many questions.
All the same there no proof the picture is actually bombs or something else related to the super tucano, like maybe spare parts.
Let's not because we want to seem we are bigger than who we really are, overlook logic.
