The Federal government has nothing to lose. Twitter is losing revenue and that’s why they are willing to meet the conditions given to them by Federal government.

They will register in Nigeria as a business entity, open office in Nigeria, pay tax in Nigeria, subject their operation to NCC regulation and respect the sovereignty of Nigeria. That’s all we ask for.

No matter how you wailers try to spin this, it’s a big win for the Federal Republic of Nigeria and hopefully, other countries will learn how to curb the tyranny of big techs from Nigeria.
Your federal government is impoverishing his youths and gagging them and you sit in your house and think the owners of Twitter of will not be able to pay their staff or do their business because they are banned in Nigeria?

Nigerians who get their daily bread from Twitter are the ones suffering, FDI are scared to come do business in Nigeria but you think Jack is losing sleep because Twitter is banned in Nigeria when we have more than 50 countries only in Africa.

Wake up and smell the coffee.

But d ban didn't stop Nigerians from accessing Twitter thru other means. So what's Twitter loosing?
Nigerians access twitter with a vpn from another countries so twitter doesn't know that they're from Nigeria and serves them ads from those countries they're accessing from.

So essentially, twitter hasn't been making money from ads in Nigeria because there are no advertisers spending money to reach Nigerians because you can't access twitter from a Nigerian ip address.

Hope you get?

You are so wrong. Nigeria actually holds twitters balls till it negotiated with the FG. It's not easy for your service to be inaccessible by over 200 million people.

The government brain have been resetted by the severe financial crunch ravaging it @ present.Twitter has nothing to loose.

Dont defend blindly.Twitter rakes in billions of dollars from many country let alone Nigeria being ruled by a tyrannt. Many Nigerians have been using VPN to access twitter so the lost of revenue accruing from tax, and sundry goes to the FG government.

Imagine that the govt have lost over "$243million in the first 51 days of the ban on Twitter in the country..."
Meanwhile the FG can't ban FB, and other social media networks. So the foolishness is on the government.
Had twitter been paying tax? Is twitter a CAC registered entity? How come many of you don't reason or seek understanding?

Spot on my brother..

Twitter must learn how to behave and understand that Nigeria is not a lawless country where anyone can behave anyhow.

Stop hyperventilating.....

Twitter is nothing in the scheme of things. That company that is strugling to stay afloat. Have you checked thier numbers. Or you think it's the social media hype your fish brain is processing. They need every kobo to stay afloat.
Competition is rife.

Do you know how many online businesses that have moved to facebook and instagram. These Social media sites are already bigger than twitter and now twitter has f00lishly sacrificed its share of Naija market so that this bigger companies can snatch the fallout of users who have been frustrated from accessing twitter via vpn. They lost out again from an already lost battle.

You maybe right, FG was trying the possibility of using another platform, but Nigerians ignored it.

Racoon:

This attitude has persisted in spite of the revelations that Nigeria lost $243million in the first 51 days of the ban on Twitter in the country..."

No, Nigeria humbled Twitter.
No how did Nigeria humble twitter?

It only exposed the stupidity of the government, especially Malami, Adamu Garba and Lai Mohammed.

The stupid government pushed Kroo nobody went for it, you can't even mention the stupid app's name on Nairaland grin, they pushed Crowwe and the app got removed, the court ruled that nobody can be arrested for using twitter and the opposition constantly mocked the government for it.

Now the election is around the corner and APC had allowed people who hate the Buhari administration to control the narrative online. grin
