Buying new cars, throwing parties and helping the needy are not mutually exclusive. Meaning buying a car doesn't stop anyone from helping the needy,and not buying a car won't make anyone to help the poor either.
Buying a car is a necessity, especially for the middle and lower class,some buy it as investment to use in making a living. Same with parties,some parties are actually very important to some people,like naming,burial of aged parents or celebration of promotion etc, It doesn't mean such people won't help the poor if opportunity arises, neither does not throwing a party make anyone help the poor.
We should live our lives to please God and to be happy,do what makes you happy. Buy anything you want with your hard earned money,throw parties if you want,as long as you're not using what belongs to others to live lavishly. And lastly help the needy,when you can,the way you can. May God help us all.
