hello sir,
I agree with you; your observation is accurate if we are going to be absolutely honest.
Since i became an atheist i have refused to join myself to any group despite being invited several times. If memory serves me well, hahn once invited me to just a basic whatsapp group of atheists and i turned it down. while it is true that joining groups would most likely lead to a herd mentality, it is also true that socialization is VERY important if we are going to make impact in our society.

I was at the fringes of the endsars protest and it is absolutely true that the whole thing was being lead by people that sought personal glory and benefits... IT IS FACT. most of them even have no idea of the core of the operations and abuses of the sars offices. you see people taking the lead in the campaign and they are just talking nonsense. they have no core experience with sars and they have no idea of the problem they are meant to be talking, they were a bunch of posers. majority were in for the spoils and that is why it has achieved nothing (sars and police brutality is still a real problem, they are just regrouping).

the problem is inevitable because of the human nature. it is just what it is, we still have to keep supporting groups that are preaching the messages that are good for the general public even if they are posers, we in this way re-enforce the values we want in our society

I can join for my own selfish reasons but all that talk about "the greater good" na long thing for me. Especially in Nigeria

I don't think that's a good idea. What I think you should do is be more discerning about the groups you join and understand there are no true altruistic persons. Everybody does things for various reasons that always contain a kernel of selfishness or serves some personal purpose. Another thing is this realisation should make you willing to call out behaviours or actions that you think go to far within any group you are a part of.

Don't shut yourself from taking part in life just because you are living with flawed people. This is the world and we live in it, enjoy what you can where you can.

Religious movement is a big no.

Politics online only.

Apart from Nairaland that I am always active on, I don't even have snapchat, instagram accounts..

Twitter only for official contact..

Group chat, none..

The time spending on those things don't actually worth it

I agree with lordreed.

You are human, and a social being at that. You should not discard yourself from any gathering be it political or any other gathering.

You mentioned the endsars protest, it’s a known fact that everyone human is selfish and vainglorious. Most of the so called leaders of the protest just wanted the glory

This is the same issue red pillism and feminism are facing.

Dogma! Dogma everywhere!

It's important to always know that we are human before anything.

Bobby Henderson once said "the only dogma allowed in the Church of the Flying Spaghetti Monster is the rejection of dogma".

If we can vehemently reject the idea of dogma in any societal group, it will make us better as human beings.

it has been taken too far. what do they mean by men going their own way, do they really want a society where men have no relationship with women? I think such movements should focus on excesses of feminism and not the female gender.
