No one can say for sure that those that surrendered around in Ajiri are ex JAS fighters as it is far away from former JAS strongholds and it is an area where ISWAP has a lot of influence. So they are most likely ISWAP fighters or at least villagers.
Definitely, ISWAP will find a way to use the surrendering and amnesty program to their advantage but the truth is that they will lose the most. The fact that their fighters now have an alternative to dying in battle or at most living under ISWAP rule with very poor standard of living and constant bombardment by the airforce, many especially among the older generation will definitely consider the third option of surrendering. It is sure that many among those that are surrendering will return to fight with the terrorists but if as much as 50% are true to the terms of their amnesty, the program is a success. It is up to the authorities to make sure that those among the surrendering fighters that still have doubts or have sinister motives are convinced while passing through the program.

It will be foolish to expect ISWAP to allow these fighters and villagers take along with them weapons and other items valuable to ISWAP while going to surrender to government hence the quantity and quality of weapons being surrendered.

Come the dry season offensive, ISWAP will either be forced to defend the territories captured from JAS which will spread them thin or be forced to consolidate their strengths in places important to them. Either way, the military should find it easier to dislodge them from most of their territories.

I expect ISWAP to be stockpiling fuel and other logistics that will be used during the dry season offensive. I expect intelligence agencies to be working towards knowing where their warehouses are located and also supply routes so that they can be destroyed and which will blunt their offensive.

The group of bandits that kidnapped 15 students, four staff members, and a dispatch rider at the College of Agriculture and Animal Science, Bakura, Zamfara State, has given a 24-hour ultimatum for the payment of N350m ransom or they kill the abductees.

In a 30-second video obtained by FIJ on Wednesday, the masked bandits were seen holding guns to the heads of their abductees.

FIJ learnt that the bandits transmitted the video around 10 pm on Tuesday through the phone of one of the kidnapped students.

“They recorded the video using the phone of one of the kidnapped students and sent it to his contacts on Whatsapp,” a source said.

“Peace be unto you all. You can all see the situation we are in! We’ are the students of Zamfara College of Agriculture and Animal Sciences Bakura that were kidnapped. As you can see, we are being threatened with death by them unless the government does something about it in 24 hours.

“They have taken us to where they deposited the corpses of those they kidnapped in Yarkofoji community and they confirmed to us that if the government fails to take action from now to tomorrow morning…”

While he was speaking, one of the bandits, brandishing his AK 47 gun, kept saying “Yes, see it here we mean it. Everyone should see it here. It’s not a lie. Yes we mean it.”

Most of the defunct Afghan air force aircraft have apparently been spotted in Uzbekistan. These aircraft are not cutting edge tech, so we might not be seeing adversaries lobbying to have them. I doubt the Uzbek government will impound it because their air force is totally dependent on Russia. Unless they need some of it. Also, according to reports, the present government is looking to improve relations with US. So they might be handed over, if the US asks for it. In that case, it might be given to allies like Iraq, Niger, Nigeria maybe.

An entire air force is stateless. Their trainees in India are reportedly in a state of confusion.

I so much believe Prof. Ashraf Ghani will be ready to trade them off for raw cash. Nigeria should swop in and cut a deal with the Uzbeks and the remnants of Ashraf's loyalists, something good may come out of it. The man is already holding grudges with the US for abandoning his gov't & may wanna do business with whatever is left of their Airforce. I just pray our intelligence agencies including the military will make move for these hardwares even if we fail to get something we should atleast shoot our shot.

I highly doubt that

Ghani no longer has the authority , amrullah saleh is now the president

Amrullah is now rallying the anti taliban front

The aircrafts are technically the sovereign property of the Afghan government so amrullah can legally demand custody of the same to be used as & when conditions favours their use . US / Uzbekistan will most probably hold the assets on behalf of them

Nigerian Human Right activist and DG, Behind Bars Family Harrison Gwamnishu has revealed how 21 year old Miss Glory Okolie who enrolled for 2021 JAMB examination has been in police detention since 17th June, 2021 till date.

He said Miss Glory left the house and never returned but was found in the custody of IRT officers cooking and washing clothes for them.

9News Nigeria recalls that Abba Kyari was the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the unit before he was suspended over alleged link with notorious internet fraudster, Ramon Abbas, aka Hushpuppi.

According to the statement released by Gwamnishu, “Since 17th June, her families had searched for her in hospitals and mortuaries but couldn’t find her.”

“Ending of June, 2021, a young man who was freed from IRT office Tiger Base Owerri told the Okolie family that he saw Glory in the custody of IRT officers cooking and washing clothes for them.”

“The family immediately went to IRT office and requested to see Glory and bail her out and till date it’s been one story or the other.”

No one is selling those assets without the consent of the US. Diplomatically and practically impossible. First of all, the Afghan government doesn't exist anymore and therefore nobody including Ghani has any rights over the aircraft. Uzbek can claim it since it was intercepted in their territory, but it will be useless to them. Their Airforce is Russian but the main reason is that there is a clause with US military assets. If you attempt to sell it without permission, you'll attract sanctions and any maintenance on it will be prohibited. Outside of american contractors, almost nobody can maintain those aircraft.
Lastly, in the real sense of it, the US actually has full rights over those aircrafts.

As I earlier said, Uzbek will likely give back most of them to the US especially the Tucanos. I don't think they need that. Then they'll be given out as excess defense articles. Unless Uzbek wants them for whatever reason, and the US permits it. But that's very unlikely because that number of American hardware might make the Russians unhappy.

Do you know what terrorism is? And why it is called Terrorism? I think you don't. That is why you equate mass genocidal killings with the activities of the MEND.

. I believe this hook line and its cheap sinker. Why, I just have the feeling this is something they can do. Nigerians will believe this even if it's fake news, why? Because the person's in this unit have displayed a shameful level of corruption, human Right abuses and abuse of power.
So before anybody blames Nigerians for believing a story like this, blame the people that made it possible for such a story to be believed.

we keep seeing videos of Bandits holding Aks, MPMG and RPG weekly or hearing News of bandits Kidnapping school children.
So who is to blame? Community leaders who are aware of their youths banditry activities and refuse to report to security agencies or Government who is waiting for community leaders to report such activities in their areas to them.

The job of community leaders is to imbibe values into the society and not to fight guys who wield Gpmg, Aks and RPG.
The blame is to the government and not community leaders. You can only apportion blames to the community leaders if the society offers support to them which they don't.

The Taliban is 70k in size, they are now in defensive position which makes it harder for them than it used to be.

They should first of all take one or two
major city close to Uzbekistan so as to distract and spread the Taliban thinner

They can then take Kabul through the Kabul airport before US leaves and it falls to the Taliban.
I think the Taliban knows this and that's why they have their men outside the airport and checkpoints on the road leading to the airport.

They will need to act fast If they are going to be able to achieve this. The more time it takes the harder it will be for them.

Do you know how many bandits vigilantes have killed this year alone, some bandits were lynched to death a while ago when they went back to their community. The communities are the ones at the mercy of these guys, they are the ones being killed. The government is the one to be blamed for failing to protect the lives of these people.

I shouldn't be responding to this normally but I will do so because I simply want to school you. It's the law brother. It doesn't have to do with those offices you mentioned. You can't just sell anything that was made by America anyhow, without permission. Were you thinking military equipment can be sold off like a Corolla?

Several reasons account for this, military tech from the US is beyond any other country due to the sheer talent located in the US, so she guards them. There are companies in the US you can't work for or even visit, if you're not a US citizen. If you are non-NATO you can't easily get any equipment just like that.

Secondly, in advocation and protection of human rights, rogue nations can be put in check from obtaining weapons. If any country sells her tech without permission, both the receiver and the receivee will be sanctioned. No US contractor will help you to maintain that aircraft. Armament, especially missiles is configured to aircraft. You may not be able to use the aircraft because arms sales will be prohibited, unless you can do some very serious tinkering. Its usually not worth it. Unless you have a seriously strained bilateral relationship.

You can read up more on this from the section of the US Code that deals in arms export. I'll drop the link.

The reason why i mentioned this is an experienced we heard 2018 a guy moved into a neighbourhood I frequent in kaduna, Romi to be precise, he claimed he is from Cameroon, he started going to a local church and even moved in with a widow, last year June during the Corona Lock down NIA came and arrested him everyone was surprised when they told the community leader that he was a repentant Boko haram and the reason he was arrested was because he was not leaving according to the agreement of his surrender, he was low-key dealing in drugs and was in contact with his people, had it been they were not monitoring him nobody would have suspected anything.
