Bro... This new horizon... Their fees are too bogus for the services they offer...they are all about the money....more than half of what they'll teach you are basic computer knowledge... Bro just go for a degree top-up abeg or look out for better IT firm for your sojourn into the IT world... Just my two cents tho

First thing first.

Go do a research on the cyber security job space and know what hiring managers are looking for both home and abroad.

That should guide your decision considering your academic background.

My brother, I will advice you to go for Cyber security. The world is moving very fast with IT, almost everything is been automated.

No professional course on IT is a waste , even in your animal field their feeds and breeding is been computerised.
Those into programming are goldmine, I am learning programming using Python but on a beginner level.
Chief go for Cyber Security and your will never remain the same.
I wish you success.

Cyber security cost well well.

And you need certifications to be useful unlike other areas of tech where you can learn on your own.

Those certifications are freaking expensive.

Once you are able to achieve those programs with certifications, no employer will bother about your HND.

I have been recruiting for several organisations, especially American companies. But I will tell you for free, all mu clients are demanding at least a bachelors degree to be able to work in the United States.

Even if you have 8years experience in any of the I.T sectors, you're automatically screened out if you don't have a degree.

I am presently recruiting for Backend Developer, U.S based only, and a bachelors degree is a most.

You can study for cyber security, while also doing a part-time degree. But trust me, nobody wants to hire someone without B.sc anymore, except handy man jobs.

Don't let anyone deceive you, 97% of American companies now require a bachelors degree for I.T jobs, I am not talking of freelance jobs, I mean permanent staff positions.

Mind you, Cyber security requires certifications, this certifications are quite expensive.

I am a recruiter, and I am speaking from experience.

P.S, I am not based in Nigeria.

Pls all advise are welcome

Mission abort!
I repeat Mission abort!!

If you want to learn Cyber security, no be for new horizon! Except you want to end up wasting your money. Back then na we student for CEH/LPT dey teach our instructor. Imagine an instructor creating a CEH Lab setup on the last day of the training, something he ought to have created at the commencement of the class.

If you were lucky to work for most multinational classes like mtn, Etisalat etc new horizon have coporate classes where a foreign instructor would give teach you firsthand handson training grin

In as much as I'll love you to go for cybersecurity, your narrative showed that you have little or no programming skills. So my advice for you is to be proficient in at least a programming(scripting) language like python, java e.t.c. before you delve into cybersecurity proper because somethings will actually require you to write codes.

Secondly, I believe to become a very good cybersecurity expert your need to understand both the hardware and software technologies,to know how to break through it,in that way you can properly secure it. I don't want you investing that much into something that when you finish you will still not know how to write a simple command line script.

In a nutshell all I'm saying is to follow the process, starting from a networking (hardware/software), programming/backend (software) then CEH(cybersecurity). That way you'll be well equipped to face the challenges associated with it. Take your time you can earn well with these knowledge before furthering to be a whitehat expert.

Teach yourself Cybersecurity and use the money to pay for an iLab where you will be practicing or setup on your own laptop yourself then take the EC-Council exam if you pass fine then take the Comptia Security + exams and you are good to go..

I just started out with CEH v11 studies before I’ll proceed with exams and my iLab is on itpro I pay $90 every month for it but got the study materials for free..

Also try juggling learning programming alongside..

Hopefully we make some headway.

Cybersecurity or Cloud computing is a no brainer. Every electronic gadget will need to be secured and only well-trained security experts will have the capability to deliver this service.

Guy,I go advice you to go for degree top up because that HND result wey you get so no too get level considering what other HND holders have been through.....Oya imagine wetin that op of that yesterday thread pass through na

I be OND holder like this but like seriously I dey feel so ashamed to talk say I get that result for where my niggas wey graduate via university for dey yan....I no just like HND,if not I for grad tay tay...

I’m sure you are still a young lad... what will save you in Nigeria is not HND or BSc... what you need to be excellent in what you do. I’m a HND holder but I’m a testimony to some BSC holders. Most BSc holders will love to be where I am right now.

No be say HND na bad result, but our people mentality for here go make you think say na big mistake you make by attending poly at all..

My brother, please skip that degree for now and go for any programming language and believe me you will never regret doing it. The most sweetest stuff about IT is you keep improving and expanding your knowledge. You can still go for that degree in future but with IT skills i don't really think you MUST have the degree. All the best brother
