Just impressive. Even the birds are jealous.
If the NAF could do what they did with the Alpha Jets you can imagine what they would do with these M346FA in the aggressor role.

With these M346 Fighter/Attack Jets augmenting the JF-17s, F-7s and A-29s especially with the numbers anticipated it will be foo.lhardy to dare the NAF knowing what will come back at you. Finally Nigeria for the first time in over 25 years has achieved a viable deterrence element against state & non-state actors in the region. This calls for a neat drink to the health of the NAF, the Armed Forces and the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Cheers!

A quick fighter aircraft lesson by the experts

This aeronautical engineer gives an impressive overview of the JF-17 Thunder. A lot of selling points important for air dominance in combat. The ability for quick turn around maintenance, thrust to weight ratio...specifically developed and matured by the PAF to meet desired air superiority requirements and very importantly the stand-off weapon delivery capability a huge technological jump from legacy fighters.

Uncle Sam is excited too about the A-29 Super Tucano aircrafts in the hands of the NAF. This is not Afghanistan. They know what we can do.

I still don't see how the procurement of m346 means JF17 is not giving satisfactory performance.

They are not meant for the same role. We all knew the procurement for both aircraft were in the pipeline already.

M346FA is needed just as the JF-17 is also needed. It's left for air force to determine which is more urgent due to lack of funds.
Single engined JF17 is a misfit for the role you are ascribing to it. Nigeria may only by JF17 Block 3 in appreciable nos. I don't see much of a future Block 2.

Single engine F16 or single engine gripen E/F or the single engine J10 will fit am sure.

JF-17 has it role to play and that role can only be fill best by a single engine multirole fighter jet. It's very normal for NAF to go for the latest block available.

Advance trainer aircraft can't fill the role of a multirole fighter jet even if it has 4 engines.

I think before NAF goes for any new JF-17s, they most likely go for a Transport plane.

Our C-130s are getting really old.

Why I also think additional JF-17 purchases might be in jeopardy is the Nigerian Air Force has received a lot of financing in the past 6 years, and for good measure.

However FG might want to look at funding the Navy next.

Navy would be needing Frigates and Corvettes, also another LST, so funding might go for that purpose.

You need to spend more time learning basic diction instead of worrying about who would attack Nigeria by "hair".

The air force kept getting funds because they keep proving the war can't be won without them and they will keep getting more.

I wish we can get KC-390 and mi-17 in good numbers. I really think jf-17 will come before transport planes because the deal have reached advanced stage and it will be the only strike role left unattended to.

Transport aircrafts are also on the pipeline and the likely type that will be bought have been looked into ( KC-390, C-295, not sure)

I feel sorry for the navy sha but buying 1 frigate, 1 LST, 1 hydrographic ship, etc is crazy to me but when it comes to patrol boats you will see 300+. I wish they can prove why they are important.

There is a place for JF17 Block 3.
For the Block 2, it is always going to be a transitory role. The only threat area that the JF17 Block 2 is closing is naval threats from the gulf of Guinea area. The capability that closes that gap is JF17 Block 2 launching C802 missiles to take out enemy ships
There is not much threat northwards that 3 to 6 units of JF17 Block 2 and upgraded F7s cannot handle
In 2025, theNAF can stock up 2 squadrons of JF17 Block 3. AESA radar is everything now.

KC-390 was inspected by our former minister of defence when he was invited to Brazil.

However Jet engine transport planes seem to me like a more expensive proposition than propeller driven transport aircrafts.

I think the C-130J should be our target, considering we have experience flying the C-130 already, there is manpower on the ground to fly & maintain the aircraft.

I would only consider the KC-390 when Air Peace finish building their MRO facility. They are the largest user of Embrear aircrafts in Africa.

C-295 was also offered to Nigeria through the Air Force, former CAS, S.B Abubakar said he was going to move the proposal up the chain for approval at that time, but we have heard nothing since then.

We need additional MI-17s for real, with these new fighter aircrafts, A-29 , CH-4 & M-346FA, do you think NAF would still purchase additional Attack Helicopters? I don't see that possibility.

I really have doubts about additional JF-17s, but we would have to wait & see.

Nigerian navy has gotten approval to purchase 2 additional OPVs.

As for the Frigate, the Navy said they would lobby to get funding to buy a replacement for Aradu, no funding received yet.

They also said when the LST is delivered, they would place order for an additional unit.

For me, I would prefer NN get a minimum of 1 Frigate & 2 Corvettes.

However let's see how things progress.

The airforce will still get attack helos, the security situation demands it. The animals we fight are those who will come back to the battlefield after a fixed wing aircraft has expended its main ammunition and returned to base because of fuel. We need aircrafts that will remain in the air for hours. The Tucanos might be fitted into that role for now but it still won't be able to do what an attack helo will do. We still have 6 MI-35s in Russia waiting to be delivered, Ajuri Ngelale mentioned they will be delivered this year some months ago.
Why sign the agreement with Russia if we are not looking to buy new weapons from them. And considering we've been using Russian helicopters for some time now.....

You are on point about the KC-390 but few of them will still be appreciated.

I don't see NAF buying additional attack helicopters. Except they are getting the remaining 7 MI35m. That is because of NA Aviation coming up and it seems something big is coming out of that unit soon.

The Air force will focus more on fixed wing aircraft for attack role while army will focus more on dedicated Attack helicopters.

I'm really praying for the Navy too. I hope we get good stuff too for the Navy.
