GeneralFarouq:

What exactly has the US acheived?
In trying so hard to destroy groups and nation, they only ended up being the catalyst for their survival and progress, look at Iran, successfully launching an indigenous destroyer in addition to a successfully development of their middle systems (mersad-16)
Then see the mess at Afghan,..

It is hard to win a war.

Much harder in your opponent's backyard.

It's unethical to give that sensitive position to a foreigner. I'll prefer if that position is given to a seasoned brilliant individual it isn't a must to have an Ex-military personnel head that position same for the Ministry of defence. At that level we need people that can think, formulate working policies/strategies and collaborate seamlessly with all security agencies in achieving the goal of making Nigeria a safe country

Funny thing u mentioned their PR

Talibuns were being trained for this in PR & negotiation courses in western countries by western governments & agencies including in proxy countries , we knew that for a couple of years

What all happened & is happening is not something which simply happened or was spontaneous , behind the so called seemingly incompetent actions & deliberate embarassments is careful deliberations and planning

U.S. Coast Guard Trains Nigerian Navy on Maritime Law Enforcement Capabilities

A team of six U.S. Coast Guard instructors began a 4-week U.S. Coast Guard Boarding Officer training for 24 Nigerian Navy officers in Lagos. This capacity building program seeks to strengthen maritime law enforcement capabilities in Nigeria’s territorial waters, particularly in the Gulf of Guinea, highlighting more challenging scenarios and tactics in the use of force, evidence processing, and arrest procedures. #USNAVY #NigerianNavy #OnwardTogether #ProudPartners

Yes a civilian can be appointed as an NSA it's not out of place, that position is more of a political/Adminstrative appointment. The current NSA in the US is a bloody civilian, it's only in Nigeria we tend to restrict our choice for such position to Ex-military personnels, though it is understandable because of their background but the truth is that there are brilliant policy makers, instructors with many years of experience on security studies and allied matters that are civilians, go to the National Institute of policy & strategic studies Kuru even in Joint Armed forces Staff college at Jaji you will see very grounded scholars that are instructors lecturing/training Mid-level/Senior military officers, some of these men(not limited to them o) can competently occupy that position.

ACTED: Zulum Sets Up Commission to Probe INGO’s Hotel Shooting Practice

Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum has, on Monday, constituted a commission of enquiry to investigate public nuisance, disturbance of public peace and other activities (shooting practice) alleged to have been carried out by ACTED, an International Non Governmental Organisation (iNGO) at Imperial Guest House, Old GRA Maiduguri.

The 8-member committee is headed by the immediate past Chairman of Nigerian Bar Association, Maiduguri Branch, Muhammad Umoru Esq.

Other members are S. A. Idriss representing the Ministry of Justice, CSP Bulama L. Hussaini, representing the Nigerian Police, Amos SAH, representing the Department of State Security (DSS), ACI Ahmed Abubakar M, representing the Nigerian Immigration Service, ABBA Mallam Umate Esq. representing the Nigerian Bar Association, Babi Baba Mala, representing the Agency for Sustainable Development & Humanitarian Response and Hajjiya Adama Umar representing the Governor's office will serve as Secretary.

Zulum said the constitution of the commission was in the exercise of powers conferred on him by section 2 (1) of the Commission of Enquiry Law Cap. 37, Law of Borno State, 1994.

Zulum added that his action was necessitated in view of the shooting incident that resulted in the disturbance of peace to residents of the area as it brought panic and fear to the entire state.

The governor commended the role of International Non-Governmental Organisations in restoring hope to traumatized people through various intervention programmes worth billions of naira. However, Governor Zulum expressed concerns about the simulation saga involving ACTED.

"It has became a source of great concern to the government and people of Borno State, the case of the so called simulation training carried out by ACTED at Imperial Guest House. Let me state here that the State Government is not unmindful of its obligation to its citizens and is very much committed to restoring law and order in all parts of the state", Zulum said.

Governor Zulum also warned that his administration will not condone any act that will breach the existing peace in Borno.

"Government will not fold its arms and watch certain persons or group of persons perpetrate acts that are inimical to public peace and detrimental to the peaceful co-existence of its citizens or carryout acts that are capable of breaching the relative peace that has been attained in the state", he warned.

Zulum expressed confidence on the composition of the members of the commission, stressing that they have been appointed based on their individual merits. He urged them to work judiciously to unravel the circumstances that led to the simulation training and ensure that the culprits, if found guilty, are brought to book. He said this should serve as deterrent to other Non-Governmental Organisations operating in the State.

The Governor while inaugurating the commission stated 8 terms of reference listed below.

1. To ascertain the nature and magnitude of the public nuisance and disturbance of public peace to the people in the general area of Imperial Guest House, Old GRA, Maiduguri.

2. To determine the persons or group of persons responsible for perpetrating the public nuisance and disturbance of public peace on the 26th June, 2021 at Imperial Guest House, Old GRA, Maiduguri.

3. To ascertain if ACTED (INGO) is a registered International Non-governmental Organisation permitted to operate in Nigeria or Borno State and under which law.

4. To ascertain how ACTED (INGO) were found to be in possession of the three (3) toy pistols and other items its personnel used in carrying out the simulation training.

5. To determine the travelling documents of the heads of the ACTED (INGO) team and the twenty-one (21) other foreign personnel of ACTED (INGO).

6. To determine the area of intervention of ACTED (INGO) in Borno State.

7. To make appropriate findings and recommendations to Government on how to forestall future occurrence(s) of such act.

Actually, the Tucanos with the EO/IR turrets are the ones capable of precious bomb strikes with their GBU Paveways and APKWS. The FLIR cameras double as EPTS you see.

whether ISR or not all has 6 ports
The 6 designed for ISR has their pod fitted at the back of the front gear
Not on any ports
Plus if u want to mount an ISR pod it would be underbelly port which all tucs has

When you are doing ISR, you are measuring distances (ranging) , you are making a video of the battle space, you are transmitting data so there I expect signal processing computers onboard fusing data from many sensors and sending data. The planes would be primarily special mission aircraft with secondary strike capability but they would be sacrificing weapon payloads for ISR equipment.

Police Kill Notorious Bandits’ Leader Jauro Daji In Niger State........

A joint operation between operatives of the Nigeria Police and local vigilantes in Niger State has resulted in the killing of a dangerous bandits leader identified as Jauro Daji.

Apart from Daji, several other bandits loyal to him were also eliminated during the operation which took place on Monday.

The incident took place at while Danji and his boys were attempting to cross a river in the Gulbin Boka to Dogon Fadama, Kontagora area of the state for a kidnapping operation..

Designators and rangefinders without munitions??
The crux of the matter is ISR and ATTACK configs.

My point is ISR configurations will still go in "armed".

The FLIR ISR pod, or in this case the Elecro-optical targeting system EOTS, guides the GBU Paveways and APKWS to target using a laser designator to "paint" the target. In this configuration, having a FLIR pod in no way affects its mission statement as a strike aircraft nor does it hinder it from carrying munition but rather, increases its efficiency. Conducting ISR and strike missions is not mutually exclusive.

Additionally on the Tucano, the FLIR pod has its own dedicated hardpoint away from the weapons pylons.

Of course the aircraft would stlll be armed. ISR aircraft would however sacrifice some offensive payload.

The aircraft has a constant rated maximum weight. When you don't see hardpoints, know that the aircraft is shedding (some) bombs and rockets for ISR equipment

There were pictures of rockets, bombs and APKWS being offloaded recently.
Note that there is still money in the project budget. I don't think the entire $500m has been all spent. Training is ongoing, even some early PDMs may still be done from it

All correct except that weight limitations and sizing/range/power of sensors for pure ISR make missions mutually exclusive.

If I put the same power of sensors / equipment used in a Beech craft ISR plane on the Super Tucano there may be just room for two rockets.

I believe the ISR dedicated super Tucanoes are carryng better than standard surveillance equipment used in all Super Tucanoes.

Even though the weaponry is quite standard in the photoset (a single Chinese Type 56 rifle can be seen).
