Enugu Assembly Passes Anti-Open Grazing Bill Into Law by etokhana: 2:07pm On Sep 02, 2021
A day after the September 1 deadline given by the Southern Governors Forum, the Enugu State House of Assembly on Thursday passed the Prohibition of Open Grazing and Regulation of Cattle Ranching Bill into law.

This is coming two days after the House held a public hearing on the Bill.

The passage of the Bill followed the consideration of the Report of Public Hearing presented by Chairman of the joint Committee, Hon. Mrs Amaka Ugwueze and Emma Ugwuerua and Okwu Chinedu Co chairmen of the Committee.

The bill, which was sponsored by the leader of the House, Hon. Ikechukwu Ezeugwu, would forestall farmers/herders clashes as well as killing and raping of women by herdsmen.

The Speaker of the House, Rt. Hon. Edward Ubosi, had, during the public hearing, said that the Anti-open Grazing Bill is not targeted at anybody or group but to promote peaceful co-existence in the state.

The Southern Governors Forum had, during their meeting in Asaba, Delta State some months back, banned open grazing of cattle, and directed each state to inact a law to that effect.

Any Southern Governor that refuses to pass the open grazing prohibition bill like the useless Supreme Court Governor should be declared a Persona non grata by his people, and must be treated as such.

Sincerely, the seriousness but which the fg is taking this herdsmen palaver on their head is just disgusting, it made no sense to even Northerners with good moral sense. Fg have to go and dug up an old, useless and obsolete law for the sake of the herdsmen. Even the VP with all his knowledge of law is sitting their watching in 3gp.

Great decision.

I doubt if anyone can just go to the north and grab a piece of land, but these bubu fellas think they own Nigeria. Entering wherever and whenever with so much guts. Not just that, killing, maiming, raping and committing all manners of atrocities.

Every Government in both South, east and west should ban open grazing.

Miyyeti Allah asked to be giving 3 months to go through the bill and deliberate on it but gov turned deaf hear to thier plea and passed the bill into law.The first class citizen are coming for them with full force with their armies a.k.a bandits

Signing is different from implementation.

They should tell us how it will be enforced.

An express order should be given to indigenes...

"To make suya out of any parading cows on the streets of Southern States that have signed this bill into LAW".
