The demolition exercise is coming after the Rivers State Government gave a deadline of September 1st for traders to vacate the slaughter market.

Governor Wike said the slaughter market was built by the Government but was being taken down for the safety of the public as it had degenerated into a notorious nest of criminals.

The State Government had approved the building of a new abattoir at Mgbuosimini Rumueme, and it promises to be an automated facility.

As a Rivers Man I don't think this is our problem rather Ikwerre people's problem because they see this administration as an opportunity to conquer all land like the Fooolanis.

You don't need to demolish a market because of hoodlums,if that is the case it mean that all the markets in Rivers State will be demolished because their are hoodlums everywhere.

After the commissioning of Mile 1 market it's still under lock and key till today.

Ikwerre people una Meka oooooo

Why not have the hoodlums residing there arrested and allowe those using the market for business continue? Sometimes I wonder if Nigerian leaders have brains at all, so what Wike is saying is that any market in Rivers State he suspects hoodlum activity will be demolished.

I see Wike becoming politically irrelevant after 2023.

This I have seen.

Security consciousness is key to healthy living and safety. Secure your territory!

Good one but government should not forget their many people earn their daily meal from that also.

While that is true (as those hausa lads see Slaughter as an extension of the North at night and when they are praying) .... It's gonna be a little tougher, as the roads around the Zoo and TransWoji road will be choked with traders. They should have started building the said abbatoir since lockdown... Plus knowing Wike is just like Amaechi at the core, there is most likely another selfish reason to this.

Very good move. That place has become a hotbed of criminal activity especially the hausa criminals who rob people of their valuables and jump into the canal and disappear

If you are not a resident around that area you won’t know the atrocities committed daily at that place. People were getting robbed and stabbed daytime and once the criminals enter slaughter you can’t do anything. A colleague was robbed around 7:00pm at the slaughter roundabout while in traffic. I support Gov Wike on this.

Good move.

I remember when the Iceland cultists that own that have made that place their abode made numerous attempts to take my phone away from me, in some cases, they took it.

I retrieved my phone back because my hands clap small for the community.

Even though my hand clap, I no dey near Slaughter for night or early morning.

Falseprophet you won't know the degree of damages those guys have perpetuated there. You are falling for them to be arrested, where should he start from arresting them... Iceland boys wey plenty.
