You should know that the vice president is powerless under the presidential system of government... Moreso under our own "homegrown version"..

This is a Fire Sale, how will successive govts run the country?
Via borrowing? Stop the sale of national assets to cronies.

These entities when sold don't improve the economy but are used to rob citizens of their rights under the constitution.

People shud rather be encouraged to set up companies, not buy up the nations assets.

Welcome development!

The government's jobs are to make laws and make the enabling environment for businesses to thrive. The government needs to get out of the way.

Privatizing these lost-making agencies will bring more efficiency and accountability.

However, the government should create a price ceiling for the potential buyers to avoid exploitation.

Below are government owned businesses by the United Kingdom Government.

Government owned businesses in Nigeria make losses because ...Nigerians are very wicked people.

Only a dullard will invest millions of dollars into Nigeria with a terrible reckless and irresponsible government in power. It will be like pouring water inside basket. The investors should be prepared for 100% loss.

I think it is getting clear why the minister of power was removed/sacked. The sale or handing over of the power firms. Have you heard of any minister of aide in this government that has ever been removed or sacked when there are over whelming evidence they employed illegally or misappropriation of funds or corrupt practices or even missing funds? Do any of those and the government will ignore calls for their removal or even come out to defend them or exhoronate them.

Can we bet that if these sales go ahead it will be sold to their dummy companies or proxy companies or where they have shares or their relatives own. Transparent? hmmm na under this government transparency go happen now?

One thing I know is that God is watching and the day of judgement will come.

The West are complicit to all that is happening in this country or allowing it to happen so long as their interest is taken care of and no adverse effect to them.

On a lighter note, I thought they would have put the NPF ( Nigeria Police Force) for sale also. What's the use of having them?

On a serious note, please people should forget about this announcement, it was just published just to fulfill all righteousness. They already know the buyers. Don't be surprised if some of them have already been sold.

You said Govt can't manage these companies, now govt is saying they will allow others to manage the companies, yet you complain!
Is there anything this govt will do that you won't complain about?

"The document listed the various 2021 definitive projects under the purview of the Bureau of Public Enterprises (BPE) to include the Nigeria Integrated Power Projects (NIPPS); Calabar, Geregu, Omotosho and Benin (IHOVBOR); Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN); Zungeru Hydro Plant; Nigerian Postal Service (NIPOST); Abuja Environmental Protection Board (AEPB) and the Nigeria Film Corporation (NFC).

Others are the Federal Capital Territory Water Board; Abuja International Conference Centre (AICC); Save sugar company; Lagos international trade fair complex (LTFC); Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS); River Basins Developments Authorities (RBDAS); Bank of Agriculture (BOA) and the Nigeria Commodity Exchange (NCX).

Most of those in bold letters are regulatories institutions. Selling those is like exposing the whole of that sector to the whims and caprices of the buyers. For example selling River Basin Development Authorities (RBDAS) is more abrogation than delegation.

There's definitely some misinterpretation.

I remember when Atiku was campaigning in 2015, they used this against him. He was heavily criticised for saying he'd concession most of government assets like nnpc.

Same people are now trying to do the same thing
So ? We should now begin to campaign for him and vote him in bah ?
In as much I'm not in support of the mannequin in power now, Atiku is also neither better.
It is high time we should do away with all these old cargoes and channel a new path.

PS - I am not a fan of Buhari and his dullard ways...at all!

You may be right but this is Nigeria. If a government in other climes say this, I will be excited but not Nigeria. Most of the proceed from these transactions will be looted.
I was in one of the Federal university days back and an insider told me that the money for some of the projects earmarked was looted.
What about the trillions that NDDC received?
So the guy you quoted wasn't wrong after all. Everything in Nigeria is bastardized.

BPE has no powers to concession any govt property under the law. BPE is supposed to have been scrapped since the coming into force of ICRC Act

Because incompetent people are managing them. Appoint competent hands and see those assets prosper and fly like rockets. Nigerians problem is incompetent leadership.

Do you know what you are talking about at all. FG putting them for sale is an indication if properly managed by private hands can be profitable. It only shows weak oversight by ministries handling all of them.
