I often observe with dismay how some SA nationalists arrogantly paint their country so rosy especially on African cyber space as though it's some worldpower while simultaneously looking down at other Africans from less well-off states often in an ignorant and unabashed manner,this behaviour is not only disgusting but sickneing. The large-scale riots that rocked parts of SA particularly phoenix in KWZ shows the extent of rot in that country which is alarming. Just before you attack me i'm fully aware of the tragic and terrible state of affairs In my country and i hope things get better for both Nigeria and SA. However,instead of opening irrelevant threads, i suggest you channel your time and expatise on solving the multifaceted crises bedeviling your country,that would be much more profitable and prodtuctive of you and your like-minds.

For a country 4 times the population of SA to get a similar amount of work visas into the UK tells me otherwise.

There are 60 million South Africans and we got 4000 work visas last year. There are 200 million Nigerians and u got just 5000 work visas instead of 20,000?! That tells me SA skills are in more demand in the UK .

There are a lot of nurses in the UK, some are students etc. You must also understand, white South Africans of English ancestry also traces their roots over there. Its not as if you find South Africans in Yemen, Chad, Vietnam etc, that would signal something else totally

The Mbeki years following Mandela were the best the SA economy has had averaging 4-6% annual growth (1999 - 2009). That's why we got to host the FIFA World Cup and joined the G20 and BRICS.

Blacks actually TRIPLED the SA economy from $144B in 1996 just after apartheid ended to over $400 15 years later , and the standard of living (per capita income) also increased by $2000.

Yeah I get that part, it's similar in SA. There are also a lot of unemployed graduates in SA as well. The government argues they studied stuff the economy doesn't need. But recently they flew in Cuban doctors to come fight Covid in the rural areas even though we have hundreds of unemployed doctors. So, when South Africans cry that foreigners are taking their jobs there's some truth to that (it's not simply xenophobia), and the government has a hand in it coz this replicates itself throughout the entire system.

Anyway, all of us in SA admit that Zuma dropped the ball, but that doesn't say anything about black leadership because the 2 black presidents before him were excellent and made SA the envy of the world.

How? It's a relevant thread for anyone who is interested geopolitics, demographics and economics of Africans/residents in Africa migrating to the UK. My issue is the usual Nigerian braggadocio especially for a country with appalling visa free status, abominable poverty (world's poverty capital) and a future Afghanistan. Earlier on, you mentioned South Africa's unemployment rate, which is ridiculously high but forget that Nigeria has the second highest unemployment rate in the world. Imagine lampooning SA when your own country is West Africa's biggest sh!thole?!

Nigerians should learn to be more discreet, humble, quiet and commonsensical with their faux patriotism considering worsening stats about the country. Till thy kingdom come, SA will be Africa's most developed country and nothing will change it. While it's unfortunate that things are becoming worse in SA, they would never become like Nigeria's. If South Africa is a future Argentina (in terms of the economy) or Brazil (factoring the racial issue), Nigeria will become an Afghanistan. Already, parts of Northern Nigeria are Afghanistan/Iraq/Yemen-ic.
