For ARMED herders

Which means Open grazing is still effective in Lagos...

Center of what again Smh
Nice observation.
In as much as criminal activities of herders should be prevented, laws should not be discriminatory.

If it pleases the Lagos State House of Assembly, they should simply pass laws against open grazing.

There are laws already in place against unlawful possession of arms. If the state House of Assembly wants to pass new laws against being found with arms, such laws should be inclusive of the general population, and not herders only.

My concern is that they are taking them off the street but they will still be given a place to stay as long as they are registered. Why are they not sending them back to the north?

7000 Cattles are slaughtered in Lagos daily, they need abatiours large enough around Lagos for Atleast a week supply

Bullshit. Herders need to arm themselves too... it's dangerous for them too.

What we're saying is: no open grazing, do ranching to reduce the conflict. However, I'm not for stripping people of the right to defend themselves, and until the government can guarantee everybody's safety - whether farmer, herder, Northerner, Southerner, it really is not fair to imprison anybody just for bearing arms.

Please note:
1. I advocate strongly that farmers have the right to bear arms, and so I must advocate strongly the same for herders.
2. The source of the conflict comes from the encroaching desertification. We need to pay attention to this, for all this is just band aid.
3. I also believe there is a "manifest destiny" among Fulani that all of West Africa, from Mali to the sea is theirs. I don't subscribe to this selfish narrative.

Smart move.

This is one of those rare good news out of Nigeria.

Come to think of it, Lagos state really targeted ARMED herdsmen.

Guns are really what to target, afterall when did Fulani herdsmen start to trouble Nigerians? Is it not when they started carrying around AK-47? Were they troubling Nigerians when they moved around with only sticks?

Can they kill and rape without the guns? No.

Smart move by Lagos state!

Lol, there machetes are deadlier than those AKs

Good but not sufficient. They can still be pardoned. I say they should be killed if they are armed or for grazing openly, they should be jailed for 10yrs. These guys mean business, we must speak the language they understand

Lagos is very tiny and everywhere is all Concrete, to even get a football field in lagos, you will reach National Stadium so, why are Herdsmen still bent on Herding Cows around in lagos, if not so they can kidnap, kill men, destroy farmlands and rape their women?

BTW: That Speaker Obasa na Yoluba Moslem, see the way he was appeasing the Fulani Herdsmen in his Speech, as if other Nigerians that get loan to do business or do it without killing others, are fools.
Speaker Obasa na disgrace to the omoluwabis.

Our darling Daddy in Aso Rock has said that ANYONE caught bearing Arms should be Shot at Sight.
So, what is the nonsense about 21yrs imprisonment that this Lagos and their sneaky Speaker Obasa is passing?

The Law should be reviewed and amended.

1- Open Grazing of Cows:
- Seize the Cows and destroy them immediately
- Arrest the Herdsmen if not armed and jail him for 21yrs
- If Armed SHOOT on SIGHT

2) Any Herdsman found in the Forest is a Terrorists and Kidnapper - SHOOT ON SIGHT.

I gurrantee you, you wont see any Terrorist Herdsman on Southern Nigeria and Middle Belt, within One year.

Funnily, those guys no dey read news. They might not know the law has been passed until their cows are arrested on Third Mainland bridge.

Lagos and all Southern States must get creative. Illiteracy is no excuse. They can understand the sign below so they should be put up everywhere.

Time we stop all the IPOB violence shite and show we have brains we know how to use. We are letting the North drag us down to their level and next minute we say they are uneducated.

Everything we want now we simply pursue in Court or use State law to implement. Malami cannot bully or buy all Judges and he cannot cower resolute State legislators.

If someone had not petitioned the courts then we would not know States should collect VAT. Instead we will make noise for the next 20 years about the VAT collected from the South feeding the North.

Like someone said earlier today, and as I have always argued could be done bypassing the deliberate sabotage of regressive Northerners like Malami, "welcome to the gradual introduction of restructuring". Nigeria must be fairer to all her people. It is the only way forward. Simple.

The herders are fellow Nigerians and I condemn this Bill.

They carry guns merely to protect there cos without harding anyone.

Lagos state should also propose same jail term for the IPOB terorists.

I call on the governor to kindly reduce the jail term to 6 months as this will serve a lesson to all herders.

This is a welcome development and I call on other southern states to exactly same laws.

You better don't praise these governors yet. I see deceit. Open grazing has been banned abi? Then the same fulanis will be asked to come and register so they can know their number abi? And then they will be given specific places to take care of their cows and not move them around shey?

What do you call that? Ruga o, ranching o. Same of same...the fulanis in each state will have a place designated for them...

We better wake up. The solution to me is that fulanis should go back to their states and rear their cows...let Igbo's rear their cows and let Yorubas rear their cows in their individual states until when one can freely and officially do ranching anywhere as may be officially allowed

You sabi well well.
That Obasa is a deceitful Yoluba Moslem.
Like the Nigerian Constitution that was written to make criminals and Looters escape, he has created enough loopholes in this Law, to make it useless and even encourage RUBA and Open Grazing.

You're just annoyed it seems progress is being made devoid of the guerrilla violence your sort want to mire Nigeria in.

Stop saying Nonsense! You nor get sense sef.
Everyone has risks and dangers they are facing but the Law does not allow us to carry Guns to protect ourselves, that is the job of the Security Agents and Fulani Herdsmen cannot be an exception.
Judging by their terrorist activities, the rape the kidnapping, they are worse than Taliba sef and they should all be shot, if caught with weapons.

Destroy the Cows immediately and jail the offender.
North has about 72% of landmass in Nigeria and that is not enough for these terrorists to Graze cattle, unless they come and kill Farmers in Benue and the South and rape their women.
