I finally understood why people buy Tokunbo instead of new stuff in Nigeria. Everything is upside down.
Sure.
New things are majorly substandard.

I want to confirm, is it using 2ich pipe for the VENT or 4inch pipe ? What is the size of the external block wall 9inch or 6inch, If it is 6inch 3inch pipe should be used and if it is 9inch 4inch pipe should be use. There is no need of reducing socket .

Oga Topsy
That is there systems of plumbing piping system In benin,!mostly they used 11/2 pressure fitting for 2” waste pipe.
Also there block is mostly solid block and in most cases they do surface vent.

Believe me people will forget all those fanciful Turkish door that can’t withstand our weather condition.

Let people go round lekki area and see China and Turkish iron door result.
People will agree with you completely.

The koko of the matter is “Client go gree pay the extra cost for special woods?”

Straight wood is possible if you’re ready to pay the extra cost.

Exactly.

Some of us will pay the difference. I spend an inordinate amount of time "straightening" lumber.

Oga Egun, who can buy 2x2 of 350 naira for let's say 700 per one?

So it is the Nigerian factor then. But that theory that the trees are not straight does not hold water. That same crooked tree will be exported to China or Germany and it will be cut perfectly straight to size.

There is something about us as a people. We're largely not thorough, diligent and regards best practice as too much work. Short cut and quick money is ingrained in most of us.

You didn't read my post fully.

It's all about the extra cost.

True talk, many of those imported doors import to Nigeria are rubbish quality either woods or steel or even brass. Nigeria locally made doors are 100% better if you’re ready to pay for good finishing, cheaper too, if one compere price. There are better imported good doors for deep pockets Nigeria’s ooo, not for joe like us sha. Many of those Chinese wooden doors are made of compressed waste paper not even wood, you won’t believe this. Those of steel are as light as yours imagination, with plastic lamination to make them look fancy.

Price changes everyday so go market or near to you to find out price.

Meanwhile, I just learnt that they have used Solignum but the dusting still continued

It might not even be due to termites. It could be worms.

If the wood is not Kingpost or purlins, it cm be changed. That's the lasting solution.

Change all the bad woods. Cut grasses around your house. Treat (soak) incoming wood.

First photo: iso Pako Sheffield UK.

Second photo: iso Pako South Africa. South Africa that we think we are better than o.

Can you see how straight and to size the cuts are? Only in Nigeria will you pass a straight cut wood as premium. In "ordinary" South Africa it is the norm.

There's truly something about us as a Nation.

Bros.. this your discussion ehn.. comparing UK and South Africa with Nigeria.. grin
What is ordinary about South Africa?

Don't you know we are the poorest country in the world Do you know how many of us live below the poverty line

Why do you think "sachetization" is going on in Nigeria?? Even Baileys is sold in sachets now.

As of right now, you will spend up to 1 million on roofing woodwork of a 4-5 bedroom duplex. How many people are willing to pay more? Say 2 million for woodwork? How long will someone in Iso Pako stock their straight woods before they are bought?

I know Egun will not agree we are the poorest country on Earth but World Bank Statistics no dey lie.

I'm still at the planning stage, so it may take a while (possibly December) to arrive Nigeria but I have the photos already from my local building merchants. See attached photos. Prices and size included.

So it is SOLID Oak or Sapele wood internal wooden door. I don't do internal metal/iron doors. Factory treated against termites ( so you don't need to perform animal sacrifice) and warping; guaranteed for 10 years minimum and ready for vanishing to your taste if you so wish.

You will need to buy locks (photo attached) guaranteed a lifetime, so you don't need to worry about locking yourself in as with Asia locks prevalent in Nigeria.

In price terms, you can land a PROPER SOLID internal wooden door in Nigeria (inclusive locks and keys) for N100K per door. However, I'm buying a bus to load in all items and ship them to Nigeria. I will sell off the bus (fire sale) which will bring the unit cost of each door to about N85k or thereabout.

I normally construct wooden internal doors in Nigeria for rentals. But this project is a family forever home, so I'm happy to import products I'm used to and trust and cry later about the cost.
