It was because of Bayelsa that I put the other caveat of neighbouring states with stable IGR kos i know that the Igboid majority of Rivers State won't want Bayelsa back.. this is a position that they've held as far as the 1958 willink conference
Bayelsa should be merged to delta state

And you think the Itshekiri and Uhrobo that are close to them will want that? It will be over their dead bodies grin grin The small Ijaw presence around Warri is making life unbearable for them and you think they would want more??

The truth is that ijaws are naturally lazy and economically unproductive. To worsen it, their areas are situated on mangrove swamps that make it difficult to utilize land resources effectively.

And the Igbos, Uhrobos and Itsekiris of Delta state may not want them in that state.

I suppose Bayelsans will just have to get their acts right, and run their state intelligently, as they have no reason or justification to be in that bankruptcy list..

The time they expend in trying to annex Ubani, Opobo, Ndoki-Igbo, Itsekiri, Uhrobo, Edo and Yoruba territories should be diverted to running a prosperous state

The problem with Bayelsa state is that everyone is a civilservant. Their monthly payroll is so long and yet not up to 30 % shows up for work. And because they have free salary coming from the government every month, the motivation to hustle is not there.

South eastern states are not serious about IGR, businesses don't pay tax, people don't pay, local governments don't collect tenament rate, it is only few hotels, banks and fuel stations that pay.

For the SE, most indigenes resident in the region live in the rural areas.. And in such areas, the state govt authority is just absent.

If everybody answer him papa name, Bayelsa no go suffer. Take it or leave it. I read the article.

How many of the oil companies that pay VAT have their offices in Bayelsa? Injustices need to be corrected in this country.
You mean tax, not vat.

But remember, Bayelsa gets more Federal government allocation than many others because it's an oil producing state. The problem lies with the governors past and present of Bayelsa state.

Have a great day, guys! Authorized organizations should investigate the IGR status. Most of the listed states were already suspected of the falsification of IGR reporting. Maybe the independent insolvency companies need to be put on work to check the real financial status of this problem. The insolvency companies like this one- https://www.antonybatty.com can easily solve their issues. I don't think Nigeria has healthy fiscal federalism. It may be that those *bankrupt* states are more buoyant ones.

I don’t understand why Bayelsa will be among, Bayelsa is a big Oil producing state, there population is not that much, have vast land for Agriculture purposes, blessed with Rivers for fishing and have Islands that can be developed for tourist attraction.

I believe the royalty been paid to Bayelsans by IOCs/LOCs and FG is making those guys to be lazy.

I have said it before Ortom hide under banditry to cover his laziness as a governor, he makes noice in order to distract the populace from knowing his level of poor performance.

The problem is partly corruption and partly resource control. If they are mining their own oil, they will not be this broke on a contrary the corruption will also be this massive and the difference may not be much.
