Yes Southern Nigeria needs a voice but the SW must have a unified agenda of development every governor must be true to and must place above every other pursuit.

I am not comfortable Aketi is making so much noise yet Lagos is the only State moving forward appreciably while other SW States are glorified Villages. To me it still shows the focus ia not quite right.

Alongside Aketi's FG face off, I would love to see regionally cohesive policies to raise the fortunes of the SW. I want more SW States to be like Lagos i.e vibrant hubs of activity, oportunities and potentials and not sleepy and backward Villages.

Aketi did well and stepped up at the right time but it is now time, with gains already made against a repressive Fulani-centric FG, for SW Governors to begin pushing for a cohesive and joint agenda, as laid down by the DAWN initiative, for the unilateral development of the SW.

Southern leaders cannot be about fighting Fulani expansionist and oppresive tendencies alone.

They must start making moves to show they have cohesive plans for the development of their states and region that can be secured even with a repressive and ethno-centric FG centre in place.

Never forget that Lagos was a federal capital for over 30 years and benefited massively from the diversity and special status of a capital city. The good thing is that subsequent govt sustained this effort.

There is no state in Nigeria that is near Lagos in terms of industries and commercial activities, which is a positive for Nigeria GDP. If there is a state in SW which should be playing big in industries and commercial activities, it is Ogun State, obviously bc of its proximity to Lagos. For Ondo, I think it will still take some time to attract the right people, money and skills to come in and invest. Without right people and money, it is not that easy.

I sense you want Aketi to concentrate more on Ondo State and may be SouthWest for now. Well this is his 2nd term, will he not have done reasonably okay locally? Do anyone know?

Again don't forget that the centre is very powerful, more so when the wrong person is controlling that power. If you don't talk and take action when and where necessary, then the people you directly lead would not be immuned of the conseqences when it come. And who said you can't championion a regional good course without neglect of your home front. Aketi's anti-Grazing and VAT stand are very noble one, as it touches on security and economy. For me, he's a good voice especially in this period of "Ostrich" behaviours and unforced inertia by political giants, that are afraid of jeopardizing their future chances.

Zamfara shouldn't shock anyone. The state is a very unproductive state and very poorly governed such that you have some of the poorest Nigerians from that axis.

Because the state gets so much allocation from FG without any meaningful contribution the Governors of the state steals as much as they can and then devised the Sharia law to suppress and repress the citizens from the State. Read about the escapades of the former Governor (Sani Ahmed Yerima).

Correct talk. Even Aketi's own State is a beneficiary of the lopsided formula seeing some States collect far more than they generate at the expense of States like Lagos, Rivers, etal.

Brave and upright that Aketi seems dedicated to doing the right thing even at the expense of his own State's finance but I am beginning to feel that Akeredolu is pandering to populism too much these days, because he knows what 'gingers' Nigerians, whereas he remains a very average Governor who is not really moving Ondo forward.

Forget about Aketi first, the fact that Buhari's administration will end in less than the next two years gives me joy.
About Aketi...he's been vital to the plight of southern Nigeria but he has his own weaknesses too. But the fact that he is fighting our course at the national level has overshadowed the punctures on his reputation.
