@Ejiod and other gurus in the house.
Please I need your advise...

I don't have a computer science/statistics/Mathematics background at undergraduate level.

I studied Accounting and Finance(2:1) and also a chartered certified Accountant(ACA, ACCA, ACMA, CGMA).

I have a very strong passion for data science which is driving me crazy, this made me apply for an MSc in Data Science and Analytics.

I just secured an admission(MSc) in Teesside University, Middlesbrough, UK (commencing Jan 2022).

But now I'm beginning to develop cold feet as to whether I can do it considering the fact I have I have no prior computer or programming knowledge and I'm getting a tad worried.

What do you advise?
Can I study it at MSc level without prior computer/programming/mathematics knowledge at undergraduate level?? (Though, if there's something I know about myself, its the fact that I'm smart, and can learn).

Please I need your input/insight on this.

PS:
Pardon me if this issue has been addressed before, I just stumbled on this thread tonight, and I've followed through to page8, and didn't come across such.

Of course you can.Learn as you go, you’ll discover it’s not as overwhelming as you think it is.

Take it one step at a time and you’ll be fine. Trust the process

Hello, please after getting admission to Teesside. How much tuition deposit is required to be paid. Or there is none?

I would be starting my journey of becoming a data scientist today. What specification of laptop would I need at most?

Your budget will determine that.
But FOR A START, An average laptop will do the job until you start handling very large data sets or running machine learning models.

With +120k you should get a good laptop with at least 8gig ram and a good battery to start your journey and also serve you till your learning starts to pay. Get at least;

You should upload your reports/visuals to powerbi.com as you can always easily share the link with anyone
Maximize your LinkedIn profile. Use it to share your work. It's not for people in administration or so-called professional fields alone.
As far as I know, you can save any file of any format on GitHub. Github is a must-have for tech peeps.
These platforms are good for showcasing your work.

Yesso, It's fun until you start handling large data. I recently had to get use to using Google Colab for efficient workflow.

You've dropped the table already: that means it doesn't exitst.

Maybe you should try creating it again before running the "Describe" code.

To start with: DESCRIBE pupil is the correct syntax here not DESCRIBE TABLE pupil or you use DESC. I will be surprised to see
DESCRIBE TABLE pupil work.
Then I don't know which particular query you're having issues with. The output message below is showing you've run some queries that are now deleted from the SQL editor

Good evening house. I really appreciates @Ejiod for creating this post and I believe strong data analysts/scientists have been birthed by this thread. I would kindly ask those that have benefited from this should also share their experiences here and how many interviews have they got. Finally, I have been reading in between lines from page one and I am passionately ready to start this journey. As a baby in the house, please any useful materials that you have been using video, ebooks, files etc pls kindly drop it on my mail for me. I am starting from Excel first.

Didn't get any formal interviews. Was recommended for a job unrelated to Data but the need for a data analyst arose and since they already knew from the previous interview for the initial position that I dabbled in Data analysis, they set up another interview for the Data analyst position. Passed and got the job.

Mostly advanced excel stuff (formulas, v-lookup, data entry, tweaking customized excel templates).

For my own sake I optimized so many processes(collection, cleaning, analysis, presentation) to make my job easier, could have used python but I was weak in excel and decided to actually master excel, later on I shifted my workload to Power BI because of Power query but I could still use excel to do what I needed.

NOTE: They don't actually care what software or tech stack you use. Just get them the data they need when they request.

I hope my little experience helps. Anyone is free to ask questions.

Bro, I think you are right with your last paragraph. I was given a problem to solve of which I pythonize (Football analysis Assignment tho). Who cares if it's python or not. All they care is results and job well done.

In addition, I also think we should dedicate some time to study a little bit of statistics as it helps in understanding how these stacks work.

You won't believe it was just yesterday that I fully understood the mathematics behind regression.
