Nigeria is a key African market for Africa Data Centres. This region is hungry for digitisation and to pave the way for our hyperscale customers to deploy digitisation solutions to West Africa, Africa Data Centres has committed to the construction of 10-megawatt total load data centre in Lagos.

Africa Data Centres is taking a phased approach to the massive construction. The first phase will go live mid-2021.

The Lagos build marks a significant step forward in Africa Data Centres’ ambitious long-term strategy to digitise Africa. The Nigerian data centre will form Africa Data Centres’ West African hub. As interconnection remains a priority, the company will be adding it to its network of data centres, which at present includes Johannesburg, Nairobi, Cape Town, Harare, and Kigali.

The creation of a digital hub is the beginning of digital transformation capabilities for the region. Multinational enterprises will wish to be housed under the same roof as our hyperscale customers due to the lower latency enjoyed. As such, the combination of cloud providers and enterprises make these data centres marketplaces of the ecosystem – and, most importantly, the base for the country’s digital and economic development. Additionally, keeping African data on African soil is another key consideration driving the demand for local data centre facilities.

Some , if not most, of the land there is sold but structures on them yet to be fully built.

For example, as far back as 2019, US Lagos Consulate already acquired 5 hectares there and that's a smart real estate investment they may resell in part later and use the profit or proceed to build their physical structures.

There are buildings there as well like the iconic Black Pearl Tower buildings. Views of the Atlantic and ships waiting in line on the sea from the penthouse of the Black Pearl is breathtaking.

The United States Consul General in Lagos, Mr. John Bray on yesterday disclosed that the US government had acquired about 50,000 square metres of land at the upcoming Eko Atlantic City in Lagos for the Consulate’s new head office.

Bray who made the disclosure at his residence in Ikoyi, Lagos during the signing of the engagement between the U.S. government officials and developers and promoters of Eko Atlantic City led by Mr. Ronald Chagoury, the Executive Chairman of South EnergyX Nigeria, said the decision to build a new consulate in the new City was to afford Nigerians better and more access to its services.

According to the Consul General, “This is another demonstration that the United States is committed to Nigeria and her citizens. What we currently have as a Consulate General was constructed in the ‘70s. So, we have acquired a land in Eko Atlantic City to build a new consulate better and more accessible to Nigerians and others coming to visit for visas and other services’’. Bray added that the U.S. government was proud to be participating in the Eko Atlantic City project, adding that the new consulate would further strengthen the U.S./Nigeria relations.

He said that the City was selected for its world-class infrastructure, security and designs of modern cities, reassuring the consulate’s commitment to working with Nigerians in providing opportunities for economic development in Lagos. In his remark, Mr. Ronald Chagoury, said that the U.S. government was welcome to the Eko Atlantic City, adding that the confidence of the U.S. government in the Eko Atlantic City had reinforced the shared beliefs in the benefits that the city would bring to generations to come. “We warmly welcome the government of the United States of America to the Eko Atlantic City. The signing of this agreement today signifies the dedication that the United States of America has always had passion for Nigeria’’, Chagoury said. He commended the Lagos State government and the Federal Government for their continued support in making Eko Atlantic City a success.

Seems like you are just waking up. Igbos already own over 70% of Eko Atlantic, go and look at the land/property registry. The first landlord at Eko even before the foundation was laid was an Igbo man. Refer to the below thread, you illiterate amala, ewedu, and gbegiri grubbing muguh.

Why We're Investing $20M in Eko Atlantic City By Periwinkle Condos

The Chief Executive Officer of leading Real Estate and Luxury Condos Developing Company, Periwinkle Condos Limited, Barrister Chiedu Nweke has said the company's decision to invest $20m in the building of a 15 storey luxury lifestyle condos was to make a statement that smart cities in Singapore and Dubai can also be replicated in Nigeria too.

Speaking yesterday at the sign off ceremony for the acquisition of 2,240 square meters of land in Eko Atlantic City, Victoria Island, Lagos, Nweke said the "intention of the Pan Atlantis Tower, which is exclusively situated on Northern Boulevard District, just a block away from The U.S Consulate in Eko Atlantic City, was to challenge similar developments the likes of which you find in Singapore and Dubai".
