Once you attain any political position, Nigerian banks will come and start following you up and down with loans.

But what did he use N5bn for? I know that won't be the amount he borrowed. It should include interests and penalties. Perhaps he never intended to pay back the cash, relying on his contacts in government to sort out the situation for him. Even then, whatever he borrowed to yield up to N5bn is a lot. Perhaps money for his gubernatorial campaign. Whichever way, he is either careless and stupid or both..

I'm not supporting this man...but this is just another case of pettiness on the side of this terr0rist govt.

They could have clamped down on him long ago but they chose to do it now because he talked ill of APC.

It's a clear indication that terrorists are really ruling this country. The ordinary ones are terrorizing people, the ones in govt are terrorizing anyone who dares oppose them.

Yes you're indirectly supporting him. Your types are the majority gullible/bigoted masses and are littered all over the country. You're a double edged hypocrite.. Black monkey. You deserve slavery in white man's cotton field. You aid and justify your dirty leaders ineptitude and their act of sabotage in the guise of witch hunt. You will rot in hell along with your masters & all the corrupt greedy politicians

They should also probe the bank managers that grant such loans.

Thousands of young entrepreneurs go to same banks for loans and are rejected instantaneously.
I don't blame banks as such. Some people are bastards. You loan them and they start looking for iPhone 15 to buy immediately.

Makes no difference. Either way, he's a greedy and currupt politician. He wouldn't be in trouble if he didn't commit the offense. Focus on his insatiable greed rather than trying to justify it... As for the govt., And the other bastards, karma will surely catchup with them later..but the right approach is to see what is in front of you now rather than aiding the currupt system with your irrational sentiment

The act is a double edge sword, for it will cripple legitimate business men, who default.
While real political pen robbers will be dealt with. However I suspect Nigerian bankers committee of bribing the national assembly for them to pass this evil Jewish Shylock shacks bill.
One of the most evil invention of mankind in this world is interest rate on loans

I don't understand you. Are you suggesting that if a legitimate businessman defaults on his loan, he should be left alone?
Remember that these monies are depositors funds and lives are destroyed when banks collapse.
Anybody who defaults should renegotiate payment terms with the bank or AMCON.
If you think that the interest rate is evil/shylock, decline the loan offer ab initio, not when you default you suddenly realise it.

That he defaulted on his loan payments does not mean he's criminal. He may have acquired the properties from the loans with hopes of servicing the loans from the earnings from the properties and it didn't work out according to his plans, that doesn't mean he's a criminal.

Some airlines went bankrupt and AMCON took them over, does that mean they're criminals too cos their projections failed?

The Latin phrase “Divide et impera” is as old as politics and war. The divide your enemy so you can reign approach is attributed to Julius Cesar —

Let us stay focus here ,there is nothing about any crime that is ethnic in nature ,its human nature, every tribe have the good, the bad and the ugly, let us be pragmatic anf focus on our systems amd government that have failed us all-This people are not working for Nigerians they are working for Fulanization of Nigeria ,divide and conquer.Rob peter to pay paul, create multiple hatred among indigenous people, to displace them.

There has been an overall increase in concern about the problems of crime, corrupt officials and poor quality schools in the emerging and developing nations surveyed in 2007 and 2014. For instance, in 2007, a median of 64% said crime was a very big problem across those 20 countries, but in 2014, 74% do. An almost identical change has occurred for the problem of corruption. And in 2007, a median of only 38% across these countries named poor quality schools as a big concern. Now, about half say this.

Many African countries are increasingly worried about crime, as are publics in Mexico and Argentina. All have seen double digit increases in concern about crime since 2007.

But in Eastern Europe, concern about crime has fallen dramatically since 2007, and especially since 2002. In 2002, 80% named it as a big issue in Poland, but only 31% say this in 2014, an astounding drop of 49 percentage points. Similar drops have occurred in Ukraine (-29) and Russia (-28) in the last 12 years. And in South Africa, which has seen its high homicide rate fall by a third from 2002 to 2012, worries about crime have dropped from a nearly unanimous 96% in 2002 to a still-high 74% today. Worries about corruption are also increasing in many countries, particularly in Africa. In 2007, 52% of Ghanaians said corrupt political leaders were a top issue, but that number stands at 85% today. In Malaysia, which formed an independent anti-corruption commission in 2008, 63% name corrupt political leaders as a very big problem, up from 28% in 2007. In China, where many say bribery is important for getting ahead in life, there has been a 15 percentage point increase in worries about corrupt officials since the question was first asked in 2008. And in Turkey, another country recently racked by corruption scandals, concern has jumped 25 percentage points since 2007.

On the contrary, worries about corruption in Poland have plummeted since 2002, when 70% named it as a very big problem. Only 46% say the same today.

In Africa, increasing numbers cite poor quality schools as a top problem in Ghana (+33 percentage points), Tanzania (+32), Uganda (+30) and Kenya (+19) since 2007. There also has been a rise in worries in Malaysia, Chile (which recently saw large-scale protests by students pushing for education reform), the Palestinian territories, Mexico and China

Nigeria, Africa’s most populous state, faces intersecting and multidimensional security crises in nearly every part of the country. In northeastern Nigeria, the jihadist group Boko Haram, along with its now-larger splinter group, the Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP), has maintained an active insurgency since 2009, leading to the deaths of over 30,000 people. In northwestern Nigeria, there are alarming rates of kidnapping for ransom, cattle rustling, and other forms of terroristic violence known locally as “banditry,” much of it committed by ethnic Fulani pastoralists. In southeastern Nigeria, the military is clamping down on the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), a group seeking the secession of the Igbo people from Nigeria. In Nigeria’s central Middle Belt states, herder-farmer conflict between Fulani pastoralists and non-Fulani farmers persists after many years. This herder-farmer crisis has expanded into southern Nigeria and assumed a dangerous religious dimension as southerners, who are mostly Christian, fear an encroaching Islamist threat that is much bigger than Boko Haram alone. Many Nigerians no longer distinguish between Fulani herders and Boko Haram, seeing both as a singular terrorist front whose sole aim is to Islamize Nigeria.

These fears of Islamization have helped fuel cycles of vitriolic rhetoric and ethnoreligious violence in Nigeria, undermining the country’s stability. Southerners have reacted to perceived Islamization and “Fulanization” by forming regional vigilante outfits such as Operation Amotekun, which is supported by governors in the Yoruba-majority southwest, and IPOB’s Eastern Security Network in the southeast. Expectedly, this southern resistance to a perceived Islamic incursion, as well as ongoing discrimination against Fulani people in southern Nigeria, has provoked retaliatory actions from northern political groups such as the Miyetti Allah, a powerful herders’ union. Miyetti Allah has issued threats against northern residents of southern origin and blocked shipments of farm products to the south.

So it is good for the legitimate businessmen to borrow from banks and not pay up as when when due because of the single fact that they are "legitimate"? If all "legitimate" businessmen take loans and not pay up where will the other "legitimate" businessmen take loans from??

Since y'all like comparing Nigeria to sane societies, try taking a loan from any bank in the US and default on your payments and see if the banks will be sane enough to let you go..
