I've heard unpleasant stories of people being harassed, by some taskforce or the other, and forced to part with monies just because they are using sienna, even when such vehicle is a registered private vehicle and was not being used for commercial purposes.

Indications show likely occurrence around Kogi axis (Lokoja, Ajaokuta, Ejule). Also Benue axis.

Is it then illegal to own, and travel with, a private sienna vehicle in Nigeria?

Pls, how can one freely travel with his/her private sienna vehicle between cities in Nigeria?

My friends travelled last week from Lagos to the East for a wedding, apart from normal Police checkpoints the only challenge they encountered was FRSC officials stopped them, because according to them (FRSC officials) they said the vehicle didn't have a manifesto of the occupants despite it being a private vehicle.

That they're supposed to have a manifesto, list of the containing the names, phone numbers, contact address, next of kin of the passengers, in case of an emergency.

Although I thought it was necessary.
They were forced to pay 20k from initial 50k

Hmmm... This is quite disheartening!
